EPCOT Guests Are Racing to Norway After Disney Brings Back This Fan Favorite

EPCOT has no shortage of popular rides, but there are only a few attractions that can completely take over the park the moment they reopen.

Frozen Ever After is one of them.

After being closed for refurbishment since January 26, Frozen Ever After officially reopened this morning, and the reaction was immediate. Guests didn’t just casually wander into World Showcase to check it out—they rushed straight to Norway, and the crowd levels quickly turned into something EPCOT doesn’t usually see this early in the day.

By 9:15 a.m., the standby wait had already hit 95 minutes.

That’s not a “steady buildup” kind of wait time. That’s the kind of number that screams: people have been waiting for this.

The Line Didn’t Stay in Norway… It Kept Growing

One of the wildest parts of the reopening wasn’t even the posted wait time.

It was the line itself.

Frozen Ever After’s queue stretched far beyond the Norway Pavilion, reaching past China and continuing into the Africa section of World Showcase. That’s a massive overflow, especially considering EPCOT’s layout isn’t designed for long attraction lines weaving through multiple countries.

Guests walking through World Showcase this morning likely got an instant visual reminder of just how popular Frozen Ever After still is, even after nearly ten years.

This ride has always been a big deal.

But today proved it’s still one of EPCOT’s biggest crowd magnets.

Why This Reopening Matters So Much

Frozen Ever After didn’t close for a full ride overhaul, and guests aren’t getting a new storyline. But the changes Disney made are exactly the kind of upgrades fans have wanted for years.

The refurbishment focused on improving Audio-Animatronics, especially for the ride’s main characters.

Disney replaced the projection-style faces with fully articulated heads featuring silicone skin for Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. This update is meant to make the figures look more realistic, more expressive, and closer to what guests recognize from the movies.

And let’s be honest—Frozen fans notice details.

So when Disney finally gives these characters a more advanced look, it’s not surprising that people are treating this reopening like a major event.

Disney Also Refreshed Lighting and Updated Ride Systems

Along with the new animatronic heads, Disney also refreshed the show lighting and touched up sets throughout the ride. They also updated the show control system, which should help the ride run smoother overall.

These changes may not be obvious to every guest at first glance, but they’re the kind of improvements that can make the entire attraction feel newer, cleaner, and more immersive.

And when a ride is as heavily ridden as Frozen Ever After, those upgrades matter.

Disney Imagineering’s Reaction Is Fueling the Hype

Disney Imagineering’s Ken Ricci described seeing the updated Elsa figure and said he was “in awe.” He even said he got chills because it looked like Elsa stepped off the screen.

That quote alone is enough to make fans want to see the ride immediately, and it’s already helping build the idea that Frozen Ever After has finally reached the level of quality guests have been expecting.

Frozen Ever After Will Probably Stay Busy for a While

If today’s reopening is any indication, EPCOT guests should expect long waits for the foreseeable future.

Frozen Ever After already pulls big lines even when the park is calm. Add in the excitement of brand-new animatronics and fresh reopening energy, and the result is pretty obvious: Norway is going to stay packed.

So if you’re heading to EPCOT soon, you might want to plan your day carefully.

Because Frozen Ever After is back, and EPCOT guests are treating it like the main event.
