The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover sat silent at rope drop Monday morning, leaving Magic Kingdom Park guests wondering whether it would run at all before the day was out.

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover was nowhere close to operational when Magic Kingdom Park opened on March 16. WDWNT reported the closure, sharing this photo of an empty queue and Disney cast members stationed near the attraction's entrance. The situation persisted through at least the early afternoon.
The cause wasn't officially confirmed, but a guest account circulating pointed to the ride's central turntable as the potential culprit. This continuously rotating platform allows guests to board and exit the attraction vehicles simultaneously without the ride ever coming to a full stop. Disney cast members reportedly indicated that the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover might not be back up until “later in the day, if at all.”

Walt Disney World Resort issued no public statement on the closure, which is standard practice for unplanned shutdowns of this nature.
Back Online by Mid-Afternoon
The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover's downtime stretched past 1:00 p.m., but the attraction appears to have quietly resumed operations sometime before 2:00 p.m. Shortly after the hour, the My Disney Experience app showed a five-minute wait. It spiked to 20 minutes as guests who had been holding out finally got their chance to board, though that number dropped quickly as the backlog worked its way through.

What exactly forced the hours-long closure remains unclear. No refurbishment is currently scheduled for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, which first welcomed guests at Magic Kingdom Park in 1975.

No, I wasn’t at the Magic Kingdom yesterday & aware of the TTA Peoplemover’s not bein’ open at all. Sure it disappointed a lot of park goers & not knowing which ride would be open for’em to enjoy. Sure there would be plenty of complaints to fill on this issue without any explainable answer.
We tried to ride this. It was our 2nd ride choice of the day after Carousel of progress.
