Guests hoping for a smooth visit to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park may want to prepare for more uncertainty, as the park faces another setback after months of operational challenges. Following a difficult winter and early spring period, the popular water park has now revealed an indefinite closure, adding to a growing list of disruptions.

Blizzard Beach only recently returned to regular operation after Typhoon Lagoon entered its seasonal downtime last year. However, the reopening has not been without complications. A series of weather-related interruptions—including prolonged closures due to cold snaps and unexpected shutdowns during peak Spring Break travel—have created a stop-and-go experience for guests attempting to visit.
The latest issue centers around one of the park’s major attractions. According to the Walt Disney World Resort website, the Slush Gusher waterslide is currently unavailable. While the park itself still lists operating hours for the coming days, a notice on the attraction’s page explains, “Although Slush Gusher is temporarily unavailable, you can enjoy other attractions at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.”
Disney has not shared any official explanation for the closure, nor has a reopening timeline been announced. In the meantime, visitors can still take advantage of other experiences throughout the park. Families can cool off at Tike’s Peak, while guests looking for thrills can head to Toboggan Racers or take the plunge on Summit Plummet, which Disney describes as “one of the tallest, fastest free-fall body slides in the world.”

There is some positive news on the horizon. Starting in May, Walt Disney World plans to once again operate all six of its parks throughout the summer season. This includes both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon remaining open at the same time through September.
For many guests, this marks a welcome return to more options, as the resort had previously limited operations to one water park at a time following the pandemic. That approach shifted last year when Disney reopened all parks just before Universal Orlando Resort launched its Epic Universe theme park.
