Disney Confirms 2027 Opening Date for New Theme Park Experience

Disneyland Paris Resort has given an official name and a grand opening date to an Up (2009) ride that broke ground last November.

A Park Reborn

The announcement comes just two weeks after Disneyland Paris Resort's second gate underwent one of the most significant transformations in European Disney Park history. Walt Disney Studios Park — the original movie-making-themed Disney Park destination — closed its doors for the last time and reopened on March 29 as Disney Adventure World, a sprawling reimagining built around immersive themed experiences inspired by existing Disney intellectual properties (IPs).

Some familiar faces survived the transition. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Marvel Avengers Campus both made the cut and continue operating under the new park identity.

Opening day also brought a wave of debuts: the Disney Cascade of Lights nighttime spectacular, character dining with Disney Princesses at the Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, the Raiponce Tangled Spin ride, and the headlining World of Frozen expansion. But even with all this excitement…More is still on the way.

On April 12, Disneyland Paris Resort officially named its previously announced Up (2009)-inspired flying carousel attraction: Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings. The ride will join Russell and the Wilderness Explorers for a soaring adventure through the skies, with a 2027 opening confirmed at Disney Adventure World.

🎈 It’s official! The new attraction inspired by UP will be called Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings! 💫 Ready to join Russell and the Explorers in 2027?

Guests will move through a queue divided into four zones, each drawing from a different chapter of the Pixar Animation Studios film. Life-size props — including Carl's childhood aviator helmet and goggles and Ellie's adventure book — will bring the story to life before riders even board. The attraction will offer both single swings and attached duo chairs for guests who want to share the experience side by side.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will anchor a themed garden inspired by Up within the Adventure Way land at Disney Adventure World. An exact opening date within 2027 has not been confirmed.

What Else Is Coming

The Up ride is one piece of a larger expansion pipeline at Disney Adventure World. A Lion King (1994)-themed land featuring a log flume ride is also under development, with plans for a scaled Pride Rock model and audio-animatronic versions of Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and other characters from the animated classic.

Leaked planning documents have also pointed to a possible Avatar (2009) land at Disney Adventure World — a concept similar to Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort. Disney has not confirmed those plans, though Imagineers are separately developing an Avatar experience for Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort.
