New ‘Jurassic Park’ Sequel Will Be Longer Than Any Movie

Jurassic Park: Survival (TBA) is set to deliver a longer narrative experience than any film in the Jurassic franchise, marking a notable shift in how the series tells its stories.

While entries such as Jurassic Park (1993) and Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) typically run between two and two-and-a-half hours, the upcoming single-player video game is naturally expected to significantly exceed that runtime through its story-driven gameplay.

Developed as a first-person action-adventure title, Jurassic Park: Survival is set on Isla Nublar and takes place shortly after the events of the 1993 film. Players will assume the role of a new protagonist named Dr. Maya Joshi (voiced and performed by Payal Mistry), who must navigate the island in the aftermath of the park’s collapse.

The length of the game, which has yet to be confirmed by developer Saber Interactive, reflects the fundamental difference between cinematic storytelling and interactive media. While films like The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic World (2015) are constrained by theatrical runtimes, a game like Jurassic Park: Survival can unfold over many hours, allowing for deeper exploration of the island, its facilities, and its dangers.

This structure also creates opportunities for more gradual tension-building, particularly in sequences involving iconic dinosaurs such as Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus rex.

Of course, the Jurassic franchise is no stranger to tie-in media like video games — there's also the hugely popular Jurassic World Evolution series — but Survival represents a more narrative-focused approach. Rather than park management or simulation gameplay, the emphasis here is on storytelling, survival mechanics, and player-driven pacing.

This longer format may also allow for additional connections to established lore, revisiting locations introduced in Jurassic Park (1993) while expanding on the immediate aftermath of the park’s failure. It positions the game as a companion piece to the original film rather than a direct continuation of the Jurassic World trilogy.
