A new Jurassic Park project is taking the series back to where it all started. The focus isn’t on revisiting original characters like Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm, but on the never-before-seen areas of Isla Nublar and its park that went unseen in Steven Spielberg's 1993 film.

Universal has spent decades revisiting Jurassic Park (1993) through theme park attractions, video games, and movie sequels, but most returns to Isla Nublar have stuck to familiar ground. Now, an upcoming installment will expand upon the world of the 1993 film while also drawing on Michael Crichton’s original novel.
What's even better is that it won't follow last year's film Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) — instead, it's going back to where it all started.

The best-selling book presented Jurassic Park as a fully realized resort and research facility. However, several elements from the book never made it to screen, including a hotel complex for guests and a broader layout that suggested a much larger operation.
Those elements are now being brought into canon through Jurassic Park: Survival (TBA), a single-player, first-person action-adventure developed by Saber Interactive. The project was first revealed with an official cinematic trailer at The Game Awards in 2023.
Rather than retelling the film, the story is set immediately after it, following InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi (Payal Mistry), who is stranded on Isla Nublar after the evacuation.
The official synopsis reads: “Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making. Survive thrilling first-person action… and discover a never-before-told story.”

While the trailer is mostly cinematic, a behind-the-scenes featurette released in summer 2025 provided a clearer picture of the game, including confirmation from developers and Universal collaborators that it will feature locations only hinted at in the film.
Among those is the park’s hotel—something absent from Jurassic Park (1993) but fully present in Crichton’s book. While the novel hasn’t been referenced in official marketing, its influence is evident in the way the island is being expanded here.
The title is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. No release date has been announced. You can watch the full behind-the-scenes video below:
