Central Florida is facing a fire weather watch this week, and Walt Disney World Resort falls squarely within the affected zone.
What the Warning Covers

The National Weather Service Melbourne has issued a fire weather watch for Orange and Osceola counties beginning May 7 at 12:00 p.m. The watch is expected to remain in effect through approximately 8:00 p.m. that evening, covering the areas surrounding Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs.

Local resident @KittyWiddy flagged the alert on X (formerly known as Twitter) after receiving a mobile notification:
Imagine wanting to place AI data centers all over Florida. Every year we have drought conditions that lead to fire weather conditions. Just got this warning today.

The conditions driving the watch include southwest-moving winds with sustained speeds of 15 mph and frequent gusts reaching 25 mph. Relative humidity is forecast to fall between 25% and 35% — well below what's typical for Central Florida — and that combination of dry air and wind creates conditions where fires can ignite and spread quickly and unpredictably.
Heat Also a Factor

Beyond the fire risk, temperatures across Central Florida are expected to climb into the 90s by Thursday, approaching an all-time high for that date. Guests heading to Walt Disney World Resort in the coming days should plan accordingly, as those temperatures, combined with prolonged sun exposure and physical activity, can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Light, breathable clothing and consistent hydration are strongly recommended. Fortunately, some relief is on the way; temperatures are expected to ease off a few degrees starting Friday and into the weekend.
What the National Weather Service Recommends

For residents and visitors across Orange, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, and Brevard counties, the National Weather Service is urging people to avoid outdoor burning, open flames, campfires, and outdoor grills for the duration of the watch. Vehicles should be kept off dry grass, and any used cigarettes should be disposed of in fireproof receptacles.
How Walt Disney World Is Affected

Theme park and Disney Springs operations are expected to proceed as normal throughout the fire weather watch. That said, guests staying at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort or other Disney Resort hotels may notice modifications to outdoor offerings. Amenities like bonfires and s'more-making activities could be adjusted or suspended depending on conditions. Anyone with questions about changes to their Disney Resort experience should check in with the Front Desk during their stay.
