Walt Disney World is officially entering summer mode, and one of the resort’s biggest seasonal moves has now returned.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park has reopened, which means both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are now operating together ahead of the summer vacation rush.

That may sound simple on paper, but for Disney guests visiting over the next few months, this could end up making a huge difference in how crowded the parks feel.
Summer at Disney World is always a balancing act. Families want to experience everything, but the combination of heat, humidity, and long wait times can wear people down fast. By the middle of the afternoon, even some of Disney’s biggest fans are usually searching for shade, indoor attractions, or somewhere to cool off.
That is why the timing of Typhoon Lagoon’s return feels so important.
Disney now has six major parks operating at once instead of five, giving guests more ways to spread out across the resort. Rather than every vacationer heading straight into Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios every single morning, some families will now shift entire days toward the water parks instead.

And honestly, that helps everyone.
Guests who choose the water parks get a more relaxing day during the hottest part of the year. Meanwhile, the main parks may feel slightly less crowded because attendance is being distributed more evenly.
It is also worth remembering just how much is happening at Disney World right now.
Magic Kingdom is in the middle of massive changes connected to the future Cars-themed expansion area and Frontierland transformation. EPCOT continues adjusting attractions and preparing seasonal offerings. Disney’s Hollywood Studios remains one of the busiest parks on property thanks to attractions like Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash.
At the same time, Disney is also pushing hard with summer promotions and discounts.
The company recently confirmed the return of its free water park benefit for Disney Resort hotel guests checking in this summer. That means many visitors arriving at Disney hotels can immediately head to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach on arrival day.

That is a pretty strong perk during a Florida summer.
For families flying into Orlando, arrival day can sometimes feel wasted. You may not want to burn a full park ticket immediately, especially if your room is not ready yet. A water park visit becomes an easy way to start the vacation while staying cool at the same time.
And with both parks open, guests now have actual options.
Typhoon Lagoon delivers more of a tropical island atmosphere with sandy beaches, the giant surf pool, and a relaxing layout. Blizzard Beach feels completely different with its melting ski-resort story and more intense slide attractions.
Some guests strongly prefer one over the other, so reopening both parks gives Disney a much better operational setup for handling summer attendance.
There is also a nostalgic side to this.

For a while, many Disney fans wondered whether simultaneous water park operations would fully return. Disney had gotten into a pattern of rotating closures and refurbishments between the two parks, especially after the pandemic years changed staffing and operational priorities across the resort.
Now, though, Disney seems ready to go all-in on summer tourism again.
And with Central Florida preparing for another extremely busy vacation season, reopening both water parks before the crowds fully arrive may end up being one of Disney’s smartest moves of the entire year.
