A new nighttime experience is heading to Disneyland Park, and Grogu is taking over the skies above Batuu.

Disneyland Resort has officially announced The Curious Child, a projection-based nighttime show debuting May 16 inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The new offering arrives just days before Lucasfilm releases The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) in theaters and will transform the area surrounding the Millennium Falcon into a storytelling showcase inspired by the Disney+ series.
Set against the rocky spires of Black Spire Outpost, the show focuses on Grogu as he uses the Force to revisit memories from his journey with Din Djarin, the Mandalorian. Disney says guests can expect scenes and imagery tied directly to the streaming series while the experience also serves as part of the promotional push for the upcoming film.
“For a limited time beginning May 16, celebrate the release of the film by catching Grogu as he tests his power to recall fond memories of his adventures with The Mandalorian in “The Curious Child,” playing after “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park,” Disney Parks Blog wrote.
“These nightly stunning projection effects transform the spires of Batuu near the Millennium Falcon, taking you on a storytelling adventure across the galaxy.”

Disneyland has steadily increased the amount of nighttime entertainment inside Galaxy’s Edge over the last several years, and The Curious Child becomes the latest addition to that lineup. The projection show will reportedly follow Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga each evening, while Fire of the Rising Moons continues offering guests a unique fireworks viewing experience from inside Batuu, complete with themed music and lighting effects.
The expansion also reflects how much Galaxy’s Edge has evolved since its original debut. Early versions of the land stayed heavily rooted in the sequel trilogy timeframe, which limited which Star Wars characters could appear within the environment. By late April 2026, Disneyland had begun moving away from those stricter rules.
That decision opened the door for appearances by Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, giving the land a broader mix of characters from across the Star Wars saga. Now Grogu is stepping into the spotlight as Disney ramps up promotion for Jon Favreau’s upcoming theatrical release, The Mandalorian and Grogu, arriving May 22.

The celebration will stretch well beyond the projection show itself. Disneyland Resort has already announced changes coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run that will add Mando and Grogu to the attraction beginning May 22. Guests can also expect themed food items, new merchandise, souvenir offerings, and added entertainment throughout the resort.
Since first appearing in The Mandalorian back in 2019, Grogu has remained one of Disney’s most successful Star Wars characters, driving merchandise sales and becoming a regular fixture across Disney parks internationally.
Disney’s increasing reliance on projection technology also continues here. Rather than constructing entirely new attractions, nighttime projection shows allow Disney to refresh entertainment offerings using existing structures throughout the parks. Inside Galaxy’s Edge, the natural rockwork and architecture already provide an ideal backdrop once the sun goes down.

At this time, Disneyland Resort has not revealed an end date for The Curious Child. Disney is currently labeling the experience as a limited-time event connected to the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu.
With Grogu continuing to lead Disney’s modern Star Wars era across streaming, film, merchandise, and theme park entertainment, Galaxy’s Edge is preparing for another major nighttime addition just in time for the busy summer season.
