Lucasfilm may have already hinted at what comes next for Grogu.
Star Wars is heading back to theaters with The Mandalorian & Grogu – the franchise's first movie release since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.

The film arrives after years of uncertainty surrounding the franchise’s theatrical plans.
Several previously announced Star Wars projects have quietly stalled or disappeared altogether, including movies from Patty Jenkins and Taika Waititi. Others, like Daisy Ridley’s Rey film, remain in development after multiple reported creative changes.
That instability has placed unusual attention on The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Originally, many fans expected the story to continue as The Mandalorian Season 4 on Disney+. Instead, Lucasfilm pivoted toward a theatrical project after the 2023 Hollywood strikes, leaving questions about whether this movie now serves as a larger turning point for Din Djarin and Grogu.

Some viewers have even speculated that the film could close out the pair’s story entirely.
One Track Title Has Sparked Major ‘Mandalorian and Grogu' Speculation
Those theories intensified after Lucasfilm released Ludwig Göransson’s soundtrack for the movie ahead of its physical launch.
Several track titles immediately drew attention online, particularly the film’s closing cue: “Your Turn, Grogu.”

The title quickly fueled speculation that Grogu could emerge from the movie in a dramatically different position than where audiences last saw him on Disney+.
“It sounds like a passing of the torch type line,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Others interpreted the title more cautiously.
“It wouldn’t make a ton of sense … Grogu quite literally has nobody else who could raise him lmfao,” another fan argued.
Another pointed out, “While I think he could get close to dying, I don’t think they’d kill him off in a movie that is the first Star Wars movie for a whole new generation of kids. It would be quite traumatic. Then again, they did kill Obi-Wan Kenobi off in the first Star Wars movie ever, so who knows?”

After listening to the track itself, the music feels far more optimistic than tragic.
Rather than suggesting Din Djarin’s death, the cue sounds more like a transition moment for Grogu — potentially tied to him stepping into a larger role as a Jedi, a Mandalorian, or both.
That would align with the direction Lucasfilm has already been building toward across The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
Lucasfilm Has Been Positioning Grogu as the Future of ‘Star Wars'
Grogu has increasingly become central to Disney’s Star Wars strategy, both creatively and commercially.
The character remains one of the franchise’s biggest merchandising successes, and Lucasfilm has spent years building him into the emotional core of the post-sequel trilogy era.

At the same time, the studio has remained relatively quiet about what comes after The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Director Jon Favreau recently revealed that discussions about the future of The Mandalorian are still ongoing with Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni.
Translated from Spanish to English from MeriStation's website (via StarWarsNews.Net), Favreau said, “I'm busy promoting [‘The Mandalorian and Grogu'], he’s busy working on ‘Ahsoka,' and I’ll see him when we get together next week, back in the U.S. Then we’ll sit down and talk… I care deeply about these characters and about ‘Star Wars.' We'll see what happens next.”
Pedro Pascal has also made it clear he wants to continue playing Din Djarin.

“I'm completely grateful. It's the longest creative relationship I've had, it's the character that I've played the longest,” Pascal said at a Q&A in London (via GamesRadar+). “Hopefully, I get to continue playing him for as long as my body, or as many bodies as we put into the suit, can take it.”
The soundtrack speculation may ultimately amount to nothing.
Star Wars scores have often concealed major plot details rather than spoiled them. Even so, “Your Turn, Grogu” has added another layer to ongoing questions about where Lucasfilm plans to take one of its most valuable characters next.
