Beloved ‘Star Wars’ Duo Could Return After Forgotten First Chapter

The Star Wars franchise is entering a period of heavy transition, with recent years marked by mixed reception across both film and streaming releases.

From The Last Jedi (2017) through Disney+ projects such as The Book of Boba Fett (2021), Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022), Ahsoka (2023), and The Acolyte (2024), audience response has varied widely, sparking ongoing debate about the future of the galaxy far, far away.

And now, the latest film, The Mandalorian & Grogu (2025), is struggling at the box office.

Star Wars‘ Forgotten Duo Could Return

Amid that broader conversation, Star Wars: Visions has remained one of the more consistently praised corners of the franchise.

Launched in 2021, the anthology series offers standalone, non-canon stories created by different animation studios, allowing for stylistic freedom rarely seen in mainstream Star Wars storytelling.

One of the most notable entries is “Lop and Ochō,” a short from Volume 1 that tells the story of two sisters divided by the rise of the Empire. Lop, a Force-sensitive orphan Lepi raised in a human family, chooses the path of the Jedi ideals, while Ochō embraces Imperial ideology, leading to a tragic emotional split between them. However, the downside is that the episode ends without resolution, leaving their conflict unresolved.

While Visions Volume 3 (2024) expanded on earlier stories such as “The Duel” and “The Ninth Jedi,” “Lop and Ochō” was not continued, despite ongoing fan interest.

The omission has become a frequent talking point among viewers who feel the story had significant untapped potential.

Star Wars: Visions Is Expanding

Online discussions continue to highlight the episode’s impact. On Reddit, one viewer wrote, “Disney has been sitting on ‘Lop and Ochō’ for years and has done nothing with it,” while others argue that the story could support far more than a single short.

Another comment suggested that its story could even sustain a multi-film arc if adapted into live-action.

Rumors earlier this year from insider Daniel Richtman (via The Direct) indicated that Visions Volume 4 may be in development, though Lucasfilm has not confirmed the project. But if true, it could reopen the door for revisiting unresolved anthology stories.

With the upcoming Visions Presents set to expand the format further on Disney+, the possibility of revisiting standalone narratives remains open. Among them, “Lop and Ochō” continues to stand out as one of the most emotionally charged entries in the series, with a fanbase still hoping for closure.
