The Star Wars franchise is heading into another packed year, with Lucasfilm preparing new entries across film, television, publishing, and gaming.

Star Wars‘ Theatrical Return Leads The Year

Star Wars will return to cinemas for the first time since Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker (2019) with The Mandalorian & Grogu, arriving May 22.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film continues the story that began on Disney+ and sees the return of actor Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin alongside Grogu.

According to StarWars.com, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”

The film also stars Jeremy Allen White, Sigourney Weaver, and Jonny Coyne.

The streaming side of the franchise will remain active throughout 2026. Ahsoka Season 2 is currently in production and is expected to debut on Disney+ later this year. Rosario Dawson returns as Ahsoka Tano alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Eman Esfandi, Lars Mikkelsen, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Animation will also play a major role for the faraway galaxy, too. Maul — Shadow Lord premieres with a two-episode event on April 6.

Lucasfilm is also expanding the anime anthology with Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, a standalone series based on the Volume 1 episode of the same name.

New Star Wars Stories In Games and Publishing

Two major Star Wars video games are also scheduled for release.

Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player tactics game set during the Clone Wars. StarWars.com states players will “command an elite squad through a gritty and authentic story” while stepping into the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer leading a team of hired specialists.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Galactic Racer revisits podracing from Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace (1999), introducing new tracks and an underground racing circuit.

Publishing will also expand the Star Wars timeline in 2026. In addition to several other titles, Ashley Poston’s Eyes Like Stars arrives July 21, Madeleine Roux’s Legacy releases July 28, and Rebecca Roanhorse’s Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss hits shelves September 15. There are also plenty of Star Wars comic books, ongoing and upcoming.
