Star Wars’ video game slate is starting to look busier again, with two new titles formally introduced during The Game Awards. Among the announcements were first looks at two very different projects: a story-driven action RPG set in a familiar era, and a high-speed racing game built around one of the franchise’s most memorable cinematic set pieces.

A Familiar Star Wars Era Will Return
One of the reveals was “Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic”, an action RPG in development at Arcanaut Studios and published by Lucasfilm Games.
Set during the Old Republic era, players will control a Force user navigating a galaxy in flux. Lucasfilm describes it as a narrative-focused experience shaped by player choice. “The fate of the galaxy is in your hands in a narrative-driven action RPG where you step into the role of a Force user on a journey through a galaxy on the edge of rebirth,” the official synopsis on StarWars.com reads.
The game is positioned as a spiritual successor to the “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic”, though no release date has been announced. It is currently confirmed for Windows PC, with additional console platforms yet to be specified.

Star Wars Podracing Is Back After 25 Years
The second title, “Star Wars: Galactic Racer”, brings podracing back into focus for the first time in decades.
Developed by Fuse Games, the project revisits the high-speed races first seen in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999), and is essentially a remake of 1999’s “Star Wars Episode I: Racer”, the game based directly on the sequence from George Lucas’ film.

Lucasfilm Games VP and GM Douglas Reilly highlighted the studio’s pedigree in racing games, noting its leadership team’s previous work on “Need for Speed” and “Burnout”.
“I can’t think of any other studio better suited to bring Star Wars racing back to our fans,” Reilly told StarWars.com.
“Galactic Racer” centers on a new character named Shade, described by Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster as “a lone racer with a dream of glory and revenge.”

Webster emphasized player choice throughout the campaign, saying, “We’ve drawn real inspiration from runs-based games so the player will have meaningful, consequential decisions to be making on how they chose their path to become an elite racing pilot.”
The trailer also confirms the return of Sebulba, the Dug racer who memorably clashed with Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) in The Phantom Menace.
“Star Wars: Galactic Racer” is slated for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
