For years, booking Space 220 meant signing up for more than just a meal.
The EPCOT restaurant quickly became one of Walt Disney World's signature dining experiences after opening in 2021, thanks to its elaborate space-travel storyline and one-of-a-kind setting. Guests entered a special elevator, traveled hundreds of miles above Earth, and enjoyed a multi-course meal while looking out at the planet below.
But guests arriving for lunch reservations are now finding that part of that dining experience has disappeared.

Disney Makes Immediate Change to Space 220 Lunch Service
Recent reports from guests indicate that Disney has modified the restaurant's prix-fixe lunch menu.
Previously, adults dining at lunch received an appetizer and an entrée as part of the $55 fixed-price experience. Guests now receive an entrée and dessert instead.
The appetizer course has been removed from the lunch package entirely.
One guest shared their frustration after learning about the adjustment.
“In the past, adults would choose an appetizer and an entree. The server said they changed it two weeks ago to an entree and dessert. Oh come on.”
The timing suggests the change was implemented fairly recently, leaving some returning visitors unaware until they arrived for their reservation.
Fans Believe Disney Reduced the Value
The biggest complaint isn't necessarily the addition of dessert.
Instead, many guests feel Disney removed the more valuable part of the meal.
One fan who recently visited Space 220 voiced that concern online.
“I just had the exact same frustration eating there for lunch, didn't realize this was a recent change. Disney probably determined that people were more likely to pay for an appetizer than a dessert when they're hungry, so they changed it to serve unnecessary sweets at lunchtime.”
The criticism highlights a broader issue Disney often faces when changing dining packages: guests immediately compare what they receive today with what was included previously.
For returning visitors, losing an appetizer while paying the same lunch price feels like a noticeable downgrade.
Not All Guests Are Turning Against Space 220
Despite the backlash, many guests continue to enjoy the restaurant itself.
The immersive atmosphere remains one of the most impressive dining environments at Walt Disney World, and reservations continue to be highly sought after.
One guest who described themselves as a fan of Space 220 still admitted disappointment with the latest update.
I actually love space 220 and enjoyed my food (rare opinion, I know) but it’s really disappointing for the appetizer not to be included anymore!
That response may be representative of many loyal visitors who still enjoy the restaurant but wish Disney had left the lunch format unchanged.
Dinner Guests Keep the Full Experience
It's worth noting that Disney has not changed the dinner package.
Guests dining during dinner service still receive all three courses: appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
The dinner prix-fixe experience currently costs $79 per adult and remains structured exactly as it was before.
As a result, the lunch and dinner offerings are now more clearly separated than ever, with dinner retaining the more complete dining experience.

Space 220 Continues To Divide Disney Fans
The latest change has reignited long-running debates about Space 220's value.
While some guests consider it a must-do EPCOT experience, others remain less impressed.
One recent visitor offered a particularly harsh review.
“Most disappointing dining I've had in parks. Incredibly expensive, mid food, mid atmosphere.”
That divide has existed since opening day and likely won't disappear anytime soon.
Still, even many supporters agree that removing the appetizer represents a meaningful reduction in what lunch guests receive.
Four years after Space 220 first launched, Disney's space-themed restaurant remains one of the resort's most popular reservations. But for guests booking lunch moving forward, the journey to orbit now comes with one less course waiting at the table.
