Six months. That is how long Magic Kingdom guests have been walking past a wrapped-up, construction-walled section of Storybook Circus, wondering when one of the park's most popular character meet-and-greet spots would finally reopen. The wait is officially over.
Pete's Silly Sideshow has a confirmed reopening date, and it is arriving at exactly the right moment.
The Date Everyone's Been Waiting On
Pete's Silly Sideshow reopens Saturday, June 27, 2026, running from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The venue has been closed since January for refurbishment, and based on the visible progress over the last several weeks, this date has clearly been a long time coming.
For guests who have not made the trip in a while, this is the spot where Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Donald Duck meet guests inside a colorful, circus-inspired venue tied into the Storybook Circus section of Fantasyland. It has built a reputation as one of the more efficient meet and greets in the park, mainly because it puts four major characters under one roof instead of forcing guests to track down separate lines scattered elsewhere.
The Trail of Clues Leading Up to This
This reopening did not come out of nowhere. A new tent roof went up on the structure back in April. More recently, crews pulled down the scrim and scaffolding that had been covering the venue for months, followed by new banners installed on either side of the main sign. Behind the construction walls, crew members have also been seen working on the wait time signage, typically one of the last details finalized before a meet and greet location reopens to the public.
In the meantime, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy have continued greeting guests outdoors in Storybook Circus. That setup has held things together during the closure, but expect it to shift back inside once the doors officially reopen this weekend.
Why Disney's Timing Here Is Smart
There is more strategy behind this reopening than just finishing a renovation. Pete's Silly Sideshow also serves as a meet-and-greet venue during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, two of the most-attended after-hours events Disney hosts each year. Getting the building back online now gives Disney a comfortable runway before either event ramps up later this year.
It is also worth pointing out the obvious. Magic Kingdom is brutal in the summer. Between the crowds and the heat, reopening a fully air conditioned, indoor character experience right now gives families an easy way to escape the sun for a few minutes, snap some photos, and recharge before heading back into the thick of it. For anyone traveling with young kids, that kind of break matters more than it might seem.
What's Still Under Construction at Magic Kingdom
Big Top Souvenirs, located right next to Pete's Silly Sideshow, remains closed with no confirmed reopening date. The shop closed in late February, had its tent exterior fully removed by mid-March, and recently received a new bright blue tent roof that has not yet been pulled taut and secured into place. That step will likely happen over the coming weeks.
Even with that piece still unfinished, Pete's Silly Sideshow reopening first means this corner of Storybook Circus is finally trending back toward normal, six months after it first went dark.
