Powerline Max skipped the parade entirely on opening night. Disney World did not announce it. People just noticed.

Look, Powerline Max has been one of the most beloved pieces of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party since 2022. Max Goof dressed as pop superstar Powerline from A Goofy Movie, flanked by dancers in aggressively 1990s outfits. People genuinely looked forward to it, partly because A Goofy Movie has become a full cult classic and partly because the whole bit rules.
For years, it ran on Main Street, U.S.A., right before Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. Gave you something to watch while you waited, and, more importantly, got people up off the curb and dancing instead of staring at their phones.
It also had a flaw that torched a lot of guests. We wrote about that flaw back in 2022.
This year, the whole format flipped.
What Happened at Disney World
Max Goof is still ready to “Stand Out” at the party. But the Powerline dance party is now a roaming stage show running at multiple spots throughout the night.
It no longer performs before Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. Period.
Opening night, Max was on the Adventureland Stage with his Powerline Party Pack. Later, the show popped up at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland.

Why Nobody Should Be Mad at Disney World
Losing a pre-parade tradition sounds like a downgrade. This time it is not.
The old setup had a genuine problem, which we covered directly back in 2022.
When Powerline Max debuted, Disney said partygoers could catch Max Goof cosplaying as Powerline with his 90s crew before the Boo-To-You Parade. What went unsaid was that Max only appeared on Main Street, U.S.A. He never walked the full route.
Max and his dancers came out of Center Street. Meaning if you watched the parade from Frontierland, Liberty Square, or near the castle, you got absolutely nothing.
Which is exactly what happened to many guests on opening night 2022. Watched from Frontierland, missed Max completely, had no idea he was not leading the parade the whole way.
That is a rough night, and it happened to a lot of people. Plan perfectly, show up early, lock in a great spot, and still miss it because you picked the wrong land.
Roaming shows solve that. Multiple performances, multiple locations, way more people getting a shot regardless of parade strategy.
The Trade
Being fair about both sides.
What you gain is access. Two locations on opening night, Adventureland Stage and Cosmic Ray's, are sitting in totally different parts of the park. No more needing to be planted on one stretch of Main Street, U.S.A. at one exact moment.
What you lose is the buildup. The pre-parade version worked because a crowd was already there, already waiting, and suddenly had a reason to stand up. Tough to replicate at a stage show that people casually wander into.
Neither approach is wrong. They fix different things.
Why the Costume Hits
For anyone who is not clear on why this character's appearance matters so much.
Max's Powerline look comes straight from the climax of the 1995 film A Goofy Movie, where Max dresses as pop superstar Powerline and winds up onstage with his dad, Goofy, during the concert.
That is the emotional payoff of the entire movie, and A Goofy Movie has built a genuinely devoted following over three decades. Seeing Max in that outfit with backup dancers is a direct callback to one of the most beloved moments in Disney animation.
The whole offering started in 2022, when Max debuted the costume and performed periodically with dancers on Main Street, U.S.A.
How to Actually Catch It
Now that it roams, check the My Disney Experience app for showtimes and locations on your specific party date. They may shift night to night.
Adventureland Stage and Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe both hosted its opening night, covering two very different ends of the park.
Best part: you no longer sacrifice your parade spot for it. Which matters, because Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade runs at 8:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., and the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks all have their own locked times.
