The scaffolding situation at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is expanding week by week, but Walt Disney World Resort still hasn't said a word about what's being done to one of Disney's Hollywood Studios' most recognizable facades.
How We Got Here

The exterior refurbishment of the Hollywood Tower Hotel has been building gradually over the past several weeks. It started in May with work on queue elements inside the attraction, followed by decorative flags coming down from the Tower Hotel Gifts merchandise location exit, and by a scrim appearing on portions of the facade near the gift shop. Last week, scaffolding showed up on the far right side of the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade — the first visible external construction equipment to appear on the building's exterior.
Walt Disney World Resort said nothing about any of it, and the attraction continued operating through every stage of the work.
The Latest Addition

WDWNT reported on July 7 that more scaffolding has now been installed on the top center of the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade, directly above the Tower Hotel Gifts gift shop. The new equipment joins the existing scaffolding on the right side of the building, significantly increasing the construction footprint on the facade.
Despite the growing presence of scaffolding and equipment, no active construction work has been observed in the area. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror continues to welcome guests and operate normally while exterior work progresses around it.

Walt Disney World Resort filed a permit for “general construction” at the attraction back in March, submitted through the resort's Facility Asset Management team — the division typically responsible for refurbishments and maintenance rather than significant creative updates. That filing, combined with the gradual rollout of construction equipment, points toward an exterior restoration rather than a retheme or more substantial reimagining.
Walt Disney World Resort has yet to issue any public statement about the ongoing work on the Hollywood Tower Hotel facade.
