Disney’s Halloween Party Is Selling Out Weeks Earlier Than Last Year

Halloween may still be months away, but Disney fans are already racing to secure tickets for one of Walt Disney World's most popular annual events.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has always attracted huge crowds, especially on Opening Night and Halloween itself. This year, however, demand is reaching another level. Ticket sales are moving noticeably faster than they did in 2025, and the difference is becoming impossible to ignore.

For anyone planning a fall vacation to Magic Kingdom, waiting to buy party tickets could be a gamble.

2026 Is Already Ahead of Last Year's Pace

A quick comparison between the last two seasons tells the story.

By August 5, 2025, Disney had sold out five party nights. At that point, Opening Night had only recently reached capacity, joining Halloween night and several other popular August dates.

This year, Disney has already surpassed that total before July is even over.

As of July 20, six party dates have already sold out:

  • August 7 (Opening Night)
  • August 11
  • August 14
  • August 18
  • October 13
  • October 31

Perhaps the biggest surprise came when Opening Night officially sold out on July 18. While that night is almost always one of the first to disappear, seeing it sell out weeks ahead of where Disney stood last year shows just how strong demand has become.

That leaves guests with fewer options much earlier in the summer than many have come to expect.

The Event Keeps Growing in Popularity

It's not difficult to understand why tickets continue disappearing so quickly.

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party remains one of the most unique experiences offered at Walt Disney World each year. Instead of simply decorating Magic Kingdom for the season, Disney transforms the park into an entirely different experience once the party begins.

Guests can collect candy throughout the park, watch Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, enjoy Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, experience the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, meet characters that rarely appear during regular park hours, and enjoy shorter waits for many attractions.

The event has become a tradition for thousands of returning guests, while many first-time visitors build their entire vacation around attending at least one party.

Opening Night also carries its own appeal. Fans eager to experience new merchandise, entertainment, seasonal treats, and Halloween décor often book the first available party of the season.

August Dates Could Be the Next Dominoes

Although six nights have already disappeared, several August parties remain available.

That may not last very long.

The lowest-priced remaining August dates currently include August 21 and August 23, followed by August 25, August 28, and August 30. Historically, those less expensive August events become some of the fastest sellers after Opening Night reaches capacity.

Last year's sales followed a similar pattern. Once Opening Night sold out, the remaining August dates gradually disappeared before attention shifted toward September.

If 2026 continues tracking ahead of last year's pace, that process could happen even sooner.

September May Not Stay Open Forever

Some guests intentionally wait until September because they assume those dates will remain available longer.

That strategy has often worked in previous years, but this season could be different.

As more August parties sell out, guests frequently move their plans to nearby September dates. That creates a ripple effect that pushes additional nights toward capacity.

Disney has already shown that demand is arriving earlier than expected, making it harder to predict how long the remaining calendar will stay open.

While plenty of September and October parties remain available today, the current trend suggests those dates may not last as long as guests have become accustomed to.

Should Guests Buy Now?

No one knows exactly when the next sellout will happen, but the comparison with last year offers a clear warning.

Disney has already reached six sold-out parties weeks before last year's schedule reached even five. That's a dramatic difference for an event that routinely sells out closer to the start of the season.

Guests still have plenty of choices, but those choices are shrinking faster than they did in 2025.

For Disney fans hoping to celebrate Halloween inside Magic Kingdom this year, especially on one of the lower-priced August nights, purchasing sooner rather than later may prove to be the safest approach. If this pace continues, the conversation may soon shift from which dates are best to simply finding one that's still available.

Andrew Boardwine

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
