The construction footprint outside Magic Kingdom Park has expanded again, and this time, the barriers are landing directly along the walkway guests use to board the ferryboat.
Construction Walls Reach the Ferryboat Queue at Magic Kingdom
On Wednesday, BlogMickey reported that green construction walls have been installed at the South end of the future ferryboat dock site outside Magic Kingdom Park, lining the walkway along the Seven Seas Lagoon. The outlet shared a photo of the new barriers, which are positioned directly adjacent to the stanchions and ropes where guests queue for ferryboat service back to the Transportation and Ticket Center.
The walls wrap around a corner, and guests standing at the ferryboat loading platform can see concrete blocks and other construction materials behind the barriers — visible evidence that active work is underway on the other side. The expansion of the construction zone marks a notable shift from the earlier phases of the project, which were focused on land clearing and floodplain work further from the park's entrance walkway.
Ferryboat service between Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center continues to operate normally despite the construction presence. Monorail transportation remains available as an alternate option for guests who prefer to avoid the construction zone entirely.
What's Being Built and Why
Walt Disney World Resort filed the original permits for a new ferryboat dock at Magic Kingdom Park in early 2026, with approval from the local water management district coming through in March. The project is connected to the planned arrival of a fourth ferryboat — the Meg Gilbert Crofton — which is expected to join the Seven Seas Lagoon fleet sometime in 2027, adding transportation capacity between the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center.
Construction began in earnest in June, with crews clearing land and performing floodplain compensation work along the shore. The green construction walls now reaching the ferryboat queue represent the latest visible expansion of a project that still has a long runway ahead. Walt Disney World Resort hasn't specified when the new dock itself will open, separate from the ferryboat's 2027 debut.
