A walk through Disney's Pop Century Resort looks a little different these days. Instead of rows of identical hotel room doors, guests are finding colorful magnets, personalized signs, Disney characters, and vacation-themed decorations lining the hallways.
What started as a fun way for families to personalize their stay has quickly become one of Walt Disney World's fastest-growing hotel traditions.

The biggest surprise isn't the decorations themselves, though. It's how Disney Cast Members have started responding.
A Popular Cruise Tradition Makes Its Way to Disney Hotels
Many longtime Disney Cruise Line fans are already familiar with decorating cabin doors. Families have been using magnets and themed decorations for years to make their staterooms easier to find while also adding a personal touch.
That tradition has slowly expanded beyond the ships and into Walt Disney World.
Pop Century has become the clear favorite for decorated doors, thanks in large part to its metal room doors that make attaching magnets simple. Families now arrive with custom-made decorations celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, first visits, and favorite Disney characters.
Social media has only accelerated the trend, with guests regularly sharing photos that inspire others planning upcoming vacations.
Pop Century Guests Have Created Their Own Community
The decorating trend has become especially popular among repeat Pop Century visitors.
Many guests participate in online communities where they post photos of their decorations, exchange vacation tips, share leftover groceries with incoming families, and even organize small “pixie dust” surprises for fellow guests.

The decorations themselves have become part of the vacation experience. Some families create a brand-new design every trip, while others bring back the same magnets year after year.
It's become another tradition guests look forward to before they even arrive.
Housekeeping Has Found a Fun Way to Respond
Recently, several guests shared photos showing that Disney housekeeping Cast Members have started recognizing decorated doors with themed award ribbons.
The colorful ribbons match Pop Century's retro atmosphere and congratulate guests on their creative displays.
Rather than simply cleaning the rooms, housekeeping Cast Members are adding an unexpected touch that many families never anticipated.
The recognition has quickly become something guests hope to receive during their stay.
Disney Still Hasn't Issued Formal Rules
Even though decorated doors continue appearing throughout the resort, Disney still hasn't published a detailed policy explaining exactly what's allowed.
There also hasn't been any official announcement about housekeeping

handing out ribbons.
That suggests the awards may simply be a local effort by Cast Members rather than a company-wide program.
Still, the fact that housekeeping is recognizing decorations instead of removing them has caught guests' attention.
Could Rules Change Later?
There is one reason some Disney fans think official guidance could eventually arrive.
Disney Cruise Line recently updated its decorating rules to clarify that decorations should stay on individual doors and shouldn't spill into public hallways.
Because the hotel trend grew from that cruise tradition, some guests believe Walt Disney World could eventually introduce similar expectations.
For now, though, no such policy exists.
Instead, decorated doors continue to appear throughout Pop Century, and some lucky guests are even walking away with a colorful ribbon recognizing their creativity.
