The search for the next James Bond may be one of the biggest casting decisions in Hollywood, but the iconic spy franchise has already introduced two new versions of 007.
While Amazon MGM Studios continues searching for the actor who will inherit Daniel Craig's license to kill, the wider James Bond franchise has quietly expanded with two very different takes on the legendary character.

Who Is the Next James Bond?
Craig's final appearance as Bond came in No Time to Die (2021), bringing his five-film run as 007 to an end. Since then, fans have been waiting to discover who will become the seventh actor to play Bond in the official film series.
Several names have been linked to the role, but reports suggest Amazon MGM is looking for a younger, unknown actor rather than an established star.
However, Bond has already been recast in two new projects.

The first is 007 First Light (2026), a video game from IO Interactive that introduces Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) as a younger version of James Bond.
The story follows Bond before he becomes the legendary MI6 agent fans know, exploring his early journey toward earning the famous 007 number.
The franchise has also returned to Bond's teenage years with Young Bond: SilverFin (2026), an audio drama adaptation of Charlie Higson's 2005 novel. Isaac Rouse (The Crown) has been cast as the voice actor of a young James Bond during his time at Eton.
Meanwhile, Amazon MGM's upcoming movie reboot remains without a confirmed lead. The untitled film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Steven Knight writing the screenplay.
Whether the next cinematic Bond arrives as a complete newcomer or a familiar face remains unknown, but the future of 007 is already beginning to take shape.
