Disney has officially introduced a new voice for one of the biggest Star Wars characters of the last several years.
Pedro Pascal has played Din Djarin since The Mandalorian debuted in 2019, becoming closely connected to the helmeted bounty hunter throughout three seasons and eventually The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026).
Now, another actor has officially taken over the role.
We previously covered Disney's decision to recast Din Djarin for an upcoming LEGO Star Wars project. But as of September 2, that project is no longer upcoming.
Fans can now hear Pascal's replacement for themselves.
A New Actor Is Officially Playing the Mandalorian
Gavin Hammon has replaced Pascal as the voice of Din Djarin in LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
The Disney+ special takes memorable moments from all three seasons of The Mandalorian and retells them through the comedic LEGO Star Wars format.
Disney released the special on September 2. With today being September 3, Hammon's version of the Mandalorian has now officially made his debut.
The change is especially interesting because Disney didn't completely replace the original cast.
Katee Sackhoff, Emily Swallow, Ming-Na Wen, Rosario Dawson, Temuera Morrison, and Giancarlo Esposito all returned to voice their respective characters.
Pascal stands out as one of the major performers who didn't return.
Pedro Pascal Isn't Necessarily Finished With Star Wars
While Disney has replaced Pascal for this particular project, fans shouldn't interpret the decision as confirmation that he's finished playing Din Djarin.
There has been no announcement that Hammon will replace Pascal in live action.
In fact, Pascal has previously expressed interest in continuing.
While promoting The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026), Pascal indicated that he was willing to continue playing Din for as long as audiences wanted these stories and he remained physically capable of doing so.
He also expressed hope for another chapter involving Din and Grogu.
That leaves the door open for Pascal to return despite another actor now officially playing a version of his character.
Din Djarin Has Always Been a Unique Role
The Mandalorian is also different from many other major Star Wars characters because Pascal hasn't always physically portrayed Din.
Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder have regularly worn the Mandalorian armor, particularly for action sequences and periods when Pascal wasn't physically available.
Pascal's voice helped connect those performances and give Din the identity viewers recognized.
Hammon now becomes another performer to take on the character, although his contribution is much easier for audiences to immediately notice.
They're hearing an entirely different Mandalorian.
Disney's New Mandalorian Has Arrived
The important distinction is that Disney hasn't announced a permanent replacement for Pascal's live-action Din Djarin.
Instead, Hammon has officially taken over the LEGO version.
Still, September 2 marked the first opportunity for audiences to experience Disney's newly recast Mandalorian.
One day later, the casting change is officially in effect.
Pascal may eventually return to the helmet for another live-action Star Wars adventure. Until then, however, Disney+ subscribers can now hear a different actor playing Din Djarin.
