Summer officially wound down at Walt Disney World Resort this week, as Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has closed its gates for scheduled seasonal refurbishment, leaving Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park as the resort's sole splash destination for the time being.
Typhoon Lagoon Closes for the Season
According to Walt Disney World Resort's official website, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is now closed for refurbishment, with Tuesday, September 8, marking the final day guests could visit. Disney hasn't announced a specific reopening date, though the company is directing guests toward Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park in the meantime.
Based on the pattern Walt Disney World Resort has followed in recent years, Typhoon Lagoon would likely reopen sometime in spring 2027, timed to coincide with Blizzard Beach's own seasonal closure for refurbishment.
A Summer of Simultaneous Operations
Both water parks ran side by side this year as part of the Cool KIDS' SUMMER promotion, which took place from May 26 through September 8. That event included a perk for Disney Resort hotel guests: complimentary same-day admission to either water park on their check-in date.
That benefit looked a little different in past years. Throughout 2025, Disney offered hotel guests year-round free water park admission on arrival day, simply directing them to whichever park was open at the time. This year, though, Walt Disney World Resort limited that perk specifically to the Cool KIDS' SUMMER promotional window.
As a result, guests checking into a Disney Resort hotel on or after September 9 will no longer receive same-day complimentary admission to Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. Whether this promotion will return to Walt Disney World Resort in 2027 remains to be seen.
