Frontierland looks a little different every time guests return to Magic Kingdom these days.
Most of those differences have involved construction walls, closed areas, and enormous projects that will reshape this portion of the park for years to come. This time, however, the latest replacement is happening somewhere much more familiar: Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.
Tabasco is no longer the hot sauce option at the Frontierland restaurant. Disney has replaced it with Tapatío, which is available now.
It won't have anything close to the impact of the major projects underway nearby, but frequent Pecos Bill visitors could spot the switch immediately.
Pecos Bill Gets a New Hot Sauce
Tapatío has officially taken the place of Tabasco at Pecos Bill and is currently the restaurant's only hot sauce option.
Magic Kingdom isn't the first place where the change has appeared. Tapatío also recently replaced Tabasco at ABC Commissary in Disney's Hollywood Studios, showing that Disney is introducing the change beyond Frontierland.
The sauces also offer distinctly different flavors.
Tabasco Original Red Sauce uses a relatively simple combination centered around distilled vinegar, red peppers, and salt. Tapatío contains water, red peppers, garlic, spices, and additional ingredients, producing a thicker consistency and different balance of flavor and heat.
Disney has also been making other condiment changes following its recently announced partnership with Kraft Heinz. New Heinz dispensers have begun appearing across Disney destinations. While Heinz doesn't own Tapatío, the companies have a distribution relationship.
A Much Bigger Frontierland Transformation Continues
Of course, hot sauce isn't the biggest replacement happening in this part of Magic Kingdom.
Frontierland and its surrounding area are in the middle of a dramatic transformation as Disney moves ahead with Piston Peak National Park. The project follows the permanent removal of the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat.
Another enormous expansion is coming afterward with Disney Villains Land, which Disney has said will include two major attractions alongside dining and shopping.
Meanwhile, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad only recently returned from its own lengthy refurbishment. The attraction closed in January 2025 and remained unavailable until May 2026.
All of that puts the Pecos Bill change into perspective.
Replacing Tabasco with Tapatío isn't going to change anyone's reason for visiting Magic Kingdom. It is, however, one more difference longtime guests may discover inside a Frontierland that continues moving further away from the version they knew just a few years ago.
