Construction has unexpectedly returned to Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at Disneyland Park, just weeks after guests watched the last signs of scaffolding disappear from the Tomorrowland attraction.
A Project That Looked Complete
The ride originally closed from April through June for a mix of exterior updates and interior improvements. Disney cast members told WDWNT that the initial project included swapping out the ride's operating computer system, providing new phones for attraction staff, upgrading interior lighting, and enhancing the Zurg audio-animatronic.
Around that same time, crews also repainted several elements of the building shared by Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and its neighboring gift shop, Little Green Men Store Command. Just last week, the final traces of that construction vanished, leading most Disney Parks fans to believe the refurbishment had wrapped up entirely.
However, new reporting confirms that those assumptions were wrong.
Construction Resumes This Week
WDWNT reported Wednesday that gray scrim-covered scaffolding and blue construction walls had reappeared around portions of the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters building, catching guests off guard. A photo shared by the outlet documents the sudden return of construction materials to the Tomorrowland attraction.
According to Disney cast members, this new phase of work is centered on exterior painting and additional renovations to the Tomorrowland building's facade. Whether the Disneyland Park structure will look noticeably different once complete remains unclear.
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters has continued to operate as usual throughout this ongoing construction, and Disneyland Resort's official website currently shows no indication that the ride is heading toward a full closure.
