Disneyland Announces Major Hotel Transportation Change Starting Next Month

Guests staying at hotels near Disneyland Resort will soon have to learn a new routine for getting to the Southern California Disney parks. Starting in early November, the spot where hotel shuttle buses drop off and pick up passengers is moving due to ongoing construction on the Esplanade.

Beginning Monday, November 2, Good Neighbor and third-party hotel shuttle buses will no longer serve the current stop at the South Harbor Boulevard entrance near the Esplanade. Sunday, November 1, is the last day they will use that location.

After the switch, those shuttles will drop off and pick up Disneyland Resort guests on the west side of Downtown Drive, near the Disneyland Hotel valet loop. The stop sits just steps from the Lululemon store in the Downtown Disney District. It is the same area where rideshares and the Toy Story Parking Area shuttles already load and unload passengers.

Why the Move Is Happening

The change is tied to construction on the eastern side of the Esplanade, between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Disneyland Resort recently demolished several ticket booths there to clear space for a pedestrian bridge. That bridge will lead to a new parking and transportation hub, which is currently being built.

What the New Hub Will Offer

When finished, the structure will provide roughly 6,000 parking spaces, more than 300 electric vehicle charging stations, a security office, and a dedicated zone for rideshares and shuttles.

The parking expansion is part of the DisneylandForward expansion and is intended to handle the additional traffic that new experiences will bring. Those include the reimagined Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park and the Coco (2017) and Avatar (2009) attractions in development at Disney California Adventure Park.

Guests who rely on hotel shuttles should confirm the new pickup location with their hotel before traveling after November 1, since the walk to the Southern California Disney parks will now begin in Downtown Disney rather than at the Esplanade.
