If you've been hoping to finally hear “September” while riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you don't need any luck today.
You already know what you're getting.
September 21 has arrived, and Disney is once again celebrating by changing Cosmic Rewind's normal soundtrack operation at EPCOT.
Throughout today, September 21, 2026, riders will hear only “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire.
That means the other five songs in the attraction's normal rotation are sitting this one out.
There's another change happening inside the attraction, too. A guest visiting EPCOT this morning reported that Disney is bypassing Cosmic Rewind's preshow for September 21.
For regular riders, that makes today's experience especially unusual.
Forget About the Soundtrack Lottery Today
On most visits, you won't know which Cosmic Rewind song you're getting until it's time to ride.
That's become part of the attraction's personality.
The six-song rotation includes “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “Conga” by Gloria Estefan, “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears, “One Way or Another” by Blondie, and “I Ran (So Far Away)” by A Flock of Seagulls.
That variety gives repeat riders something extra to chase.
Someone could have completely different musical experiences during two rides on the same vacation. Some fans have also spent numerous rides trying to hear all six tracks.
September 21 works differently.
For the fourth straight year, “September” is taking over the attraction for the date made famous by the song.
There's no need to cross your fingers while boarding.

The preshow is normally part of the larger Cosmic Rewind story, helping move guests from their visit to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion into the Guardians adventure.
Regular visitors who have experienced Cosmic Rewind numerous times may already know the story well enough that missing the preshow won't leave them confused.
First-time riders, however, should know that what they're experiencing today isn't necessarily the attraction's standard presentation.
Based on the post provided, the bypass is specifically connected to September 21. There is nothing in the supplied information suggesting Disney has permanently eliminated the preshow.
September 21 Is Becoming an EPCOT Tradition

Tomorrow, riders can go back to hoping they get their favorite song.
For today, Disney has made the decision for everyone.
