A classic Magic Kingdom attraction has unexpectedly remained closed for a second day, and Disney has put something unusual outside while guests wait for it to return.
Peter Pan’s Flight has been unavailable since September 21. As of 1:40 p.m. on September 22, the Fantasyland attraction was still closed, with Disney providing no public explanation for the extended downtime.
There is also no announced reopening time.
While an attraction temporarily going down isn't unusual at Walt Disney World, the length of this particular closure is beginning to attract attention. Peter Pan’s Flight remained unavailable through the end of the previous day and still hadn't reopened well into the following afternoon.
Now, guests have spotted a temporary activity outside the ride.

A guest shared a photo on X showing hopscotch set up outside Peter Pan’s Flight while the attraction remained unavailable.
Obviously, Disney isn't actually replacing Peter Pan’s Flight with hopscotch. Cast Members sometimes introduce simple activities to keep guests entertained when attractions experience downtime.
Still, seeing the activity outside after Peter Pan’s Flight remained closed for such a long stretch isn't necessarily the sign guests hoping for an immediate reopening wanted.
Disney hasn't said what caused the attraction to close or how long repairs could take.

Peter Pan’s Flight remains one of Fantasyland’s most popular attractions, often drawing lengthy waits despite being one of Magic Kingdom’s older rides. Guests board suspended pirate ships and fly through scenes inspired by Disney’s animated Peter Pan (1953).
This isn't a permanent closure
The unexpected downtime could naturally create questions about the attraction’s future, especially considering how much Magic Kingdom is changing.
Rumors have circulated online about Peter Pan’s Flight potentially being replaced someday. Disney, however, has made no announcement suggesting that is happening.
Nothing about the current closure points toward a permanent shutdown, either.
Disney actually updated Peter Pan’s Flight in 2024, reimagining its Native American scene. The project proved controversial among some longtime fans who wanted Disney to preserve the classic attraction in its previous form.
The ride reopened following that refurbishment and has continued operating normally.
For now, this latest situation appears to be an unexpected operational closure rather than the beginning of another major transformation.
The biggest question is simply when Peter Pan’s Flight will reopen.
Until that happens, guests visiting Fantasyland may find something much simpler waiting outside. Hopscotch isn't exactly a flight to Never Land, but for the moment, it is one of the activities guests can find outside while Peter Pan’s pirate ships remain grounded.
