New aerial photography shows Disney's Lakeshore Lodge making rapid progress on the shores of Bay Lake, and the upcoming Walt Disney World Resort has picked up a slightly revised name along the way.
Theme park photographer Bioreconstruct shared a fresh batch of images captured on September 19. The set includes an aerial overview of the full construction site, taken from 3,500 feet, along with three photos focused on pool construction at The Wetlands and Cypress Point. Taken together, the images show a project moving at a quick pace, with the resort's recreation areas taking shape alongside its main structures.

The resort is scheduled to open on July 1, 2027.
The Name Change
The project, previously referred to as Disney Lakeshore Lodge, is now going by Disney's Lakeshore Lodge. It is a one-character change, but it marks the second time the resort's name has shifted. When Disney first announced plans to build on the former site of Disney's River Country, the project carried the name Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge.
The update first appeared in a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filing dated August 11, 2026, under U.S. Serial Number 50043700. The application covers the mark “DISNEY'S LAKESHORE LODGE” as a standard character mark, meaning Disney is not claiming a specific font, color, or design. It is filed on the Principal Register as a service mark. At the time of the USPTO status listing, the application had met minimum filing requirements but had not yet been assigned to an examining attorney, so it was active and valid while waiting in the review queue.
Filings like this are standard for a hospitality brand approaching opening day. The change also brings the resort in line with Disney's long-standing naming convention. Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa all open with the possessive, and the earlier name stood out next to them.
Resort Details
Disney's Lakeshore Lodge will feature 967 rooms, with a design rooted in Walt Disney's love of nature. Imagineers have built in references to Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear throughout. The lobby includes a fiberoptic “river” set into the floor and a blown-glass sculpture inspired by “Colors of the Wind.” Room types will range from compact studios to newly introduced one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses along the shoreline.
Dining will include Moonglade, a table-service restaurant with lake views; Bay Lake Provisions, a quick-service location; and Paint Out Point Bar & Grill, a poolside spot themed to the tradition of outdoor painting. Dandelion Terrace will offer an unobstructed view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, decorated with archival artwork from Fantasia.
The Wetlands, the resort's primary recreation area, includes Lakeshore Lagoon, a zero-entry pool with a spiral waterslide, plus the Daydream River lazy river and two themed play areas, Heron Shores and Otter Springs. Cypress Point, a quieter secondary pool, also offers a view of the nightly fireworks.
A plaque along the resort's nature trail will honor a “beloved historic attraction” that once stood on the property.
A Busy Stretch for Magic Kingdom
The resort is one piece of a much larger transformation around Magic Kingdom, the most-visited theme park in the world. Cinderella Castle recently moved away from its pink-tinged spires with a new paint scheme. In Frontierland, the Rivers of America have been drained and removed to make room for Piston Peak National Park, a new land themed to Pixar's Cars. Nearby, groundwork is underway for Villains Land, one of the most anticipated expansions in Walt Disney World history.
