Disney World Finalizes Shutdown of 55-Year-Old Jungle Cruise Attraction

The Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom Park is about to sail into the background. Walt Disney World Resort has locked in the dates for its annual holiday takeover, which means the standard version of the Adventureland ride will be unavailable for roughly two months. It will return in early January.

Monday, November 2, is the final day guests can experience the regular Jungle Cruise before the changeover. From November 3, 2026, the ride becomes the Jingle Cruise, a holiday-themed journey through the Amazon, Congo, Nile, and Mekong Rivers. The punny Skippers work the Most Wonderful Time of the Year into their scripts, while Imagineers install holiday props throughout the attraction and on its audio-animatronics.

The holiday version runs during regular park hours. It also operates during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the special-ticketed event held on select nights in November and December.

Return Date Confirmed

On Sunday, November 1, Disney finalized the schedule. The updated Jingle Cruise webpage states that the last day to experience the overlay is January 4, 2027. Imagineers will make the switch overnight, and the original Jungle Cruise will be back in action when Magic Kingdom Park opens on January 5, 2027.

That gives guests about nine weeks to ride the holiday version. The overlay will leave two days before the official end of the holiday season at Walt Disney World Resort, which concludes on January 6, 2027.

Magic Kingdom Park guests who want the classic skipper jokes can ride the Jungle Cruise through November 2 or return on January 5, while anyone hoping to see the holiday version should plan a trip before the first week of January.
