The old ticket booths on the eastern side of the Esplanade are gone, and a replacement is rising in their place. Disneyland Resort is building a new security checkpoint there, and while fans think it could open within weeks, Disney has only promised: “fall 2026.”
Out With the Old Booths

Earlier this year, Disneyland Resort demolished several ticket booths on the eastern side of the Esplanade, which sits between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. The cleared land is now being used for a pedestrian bridge and a new security gateway. Both connect to a parking garage that broke ground this summer.
That garage will provide roughly 6,000 parking spaces, more than 300 electric-vehicle charging stations, a security office, and a transportation hub for rideshares and shuttles.
Part of a Bigger Plan

The bridge, the checkpoint, and the garage fall under DisneylandForward, the expansion designed to support heavier crowds once new attractions open. Disney is developing Avatar (2009), Coco (2017), and Avengers Campus attractions for Disney California Adventure Park, and it is reimagining Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.
Many of those experiences are still a few years out, but the supporting infrastructure is moving along faster.
What the Photos Show

On October 26, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @laughingplace posted photos of a new blue roof canopy visible above the construction walls at the checkpoint site. The caption read:

Fan sites such as Pirates and Princesses have speculated that, given how far along construction is, the checkpoint could open within the next month. Disneyland Resort hasn't confirmed an exact date beyond “fall 2026.”
Plan Ahead

Until the new screening area opens, guests should allow extra time for reroutes and alternate checkpoints on the way into both Southern California Disney parks. To accommodate the work, the drop-off point for third-party and Good Neighbor hotel shuttles recently moved to a new spot near the Lululemon store in the Downtown Disney District.
