Disney California Adventure Faces Major Disruptions After Attractions Close Without Warning

Disneyland Resort guests encountered an unexpected problem today.

November is a period of transition at Disneyland Resort, with Halloween decorations coming down and preparations underway for the holiday season. This year's celebrations begin on November 13, bringing seasonal entertainment, special food offerings, and festive attraction overlays to the Anaheim theme parks.

Both parks are already dealing with scheduled refurbishments. At Disneyland Park, “it's a small world” is temporarily closed ahead of its holiday transformation, while Disney California Adventure has also taken one of its longstanding experiences offline.

Disney California Adventure is home to some of the resort's biggest rides, including Radiator Springs Racers, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and the Incredicoaster.

However, several major attractions unexpectedly stopped operating on November 4, leaving guests facing ride closures and allegedly inaccurate wait times.

Disneyland Guests Report Multiple Unexpected Ride Closures

On Wednesday, November 4, a guest took to Reddit to question why so many Disney California Adventure attractions were suddenly unavailable.

The visitor shared a screenshot of the Disneyland app showing four rides listed as temporarily closed: Radiator Springs Racers, Incredicoaster, Goofy's Sky School, and Grizzly River Run.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! was the only operating attraction among the five thrill rides displayed in the screenshot, with an advertised standby wait of just 25 minutes.

However, the guest claimed that the park was experiencing another problem beyond the unexpected shutdowns.

“So many of the rides at California Adventure are down right now,” they wrote.

According to the guest, multiple cast members had warned visitors that actual wait times were approximately twice as long as those displayed. The visitor also noted that the weather was clear, raising questions about what caused the closures.

Other Reddit users speculated about potential electrical issues or problems with Disney's systems.

“If CMs are actively telling you the wait time is double what it is, then it’s likely a systems issue with Disneyland’s operational command center,” one commenter suggested.

Disney has not publicly confirmed what caused the disruptions or whether the inaccurate wait times were connected to the closures.

Fortunately, most of the outages were temporary. By approximately 4:15 p.m. Pacific Time, Radiator Springs Racers was the only one of the four affected attractions still listed as closed.

More Disneyland Attractions Remain Closed Ahead of November 13

Although most of Wednesday's unexpected closures were resolved by late afternoon, other Disney California Adventure attractions remain unavailable.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is currently undergoing a scheduled refurbishment that began on November 1. The Grizzly Peak attraction features climbing structures, rope bridges, and other activities for younger guests.

It is expected to reopen on November 13, coinciding with Santa's Holiday Visit and the return of Disney Festival of Holidays, which runs through January 6, 2027.

Unlike these planned closures, the November 4 disruptions gave guests little opportunity to adjust their itineraries in advance.

The interruptions were particularly inconvenient at Disney California Adventure, which has fewer rides than neighboring Disneyland Park. With four major attractions unavailable simultaneously, guests were left with limited alternatives.
