Disney Digest: Your Insider’s Guide to the Marquee Attractions – Volume Two

3. Ride

The Mine Train was designed as more of a “family” themed ride rather than your typical thrill coaster like Space Mountain or Expedition Everest.  The ride itself has the feel of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Riders get to experience the attraction both indoors and outdoors.  One of my favorite parts of this attraction is the swaying and moving feeling you have while riding it.  This isn’t your typical coaster where your center of gravity is in one location.  The attraction was designed with a “tilting technology” to recreate the feeling of moving in an actual mine cart. No Snow White ride would ever be complete without hearing “Heigh-Ho”, which is done in an incredibly creative way that only Disney can do.   The speeds are comparable to that of Big Thunder Mountain with some minor drops and hairpin turns.  The ride has continuously been in high demand for guests with wait times constantly topping 90 minutes or more.

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Mike Procopio had his first Disney adventure later than most in 2011 for his 30th birthday. He has been hooked ever since and is now the "go-to guy" for friends and family who are planning Disney vacations. Mike is also an accomplished athlete as a junior national judo champion. He also enjoys golf, writing for the NFL, and travel.
