Disney World Vocabulary 101 - Terms You Should Know Before You Go

Magic Bands

5. MagicBands

MagicBands are the plastic bracelets guests wear that contain their FastPass selections, allow access to their room and other amenities at their resorts, as well as can act as a way for guests to charge purchases on property to their guest account.  MagicBands also serve as a way for guests to express their Disney personalities – my favorite is my Grumpy MagicBand that I can add BandIts to show my favorite characters and attractions!

4. Quick Service/Counter Service/Table Service

These terms refer to the various Disney restaurants and the level of service they provide.  Quick service/counter service refers to the snack stands and restaurants where guests walk to a counter and order their meal and take the food to a table.  Table service allows guests to sit down and have Cast Members come to their table to take their order and deliver it.

3. Park Hopper

Park Hopper is an option guests can add to their ticket that allow them to visit and explore more than one park per day.  The decision on whether you want to park hop is an individual one and depends on your family and how you like to vacation.

2. Hard Ticket

This term refers to separate events at Walt Disney World that require a separate, event-specific ticket.  Currently, guests need a hard ticket to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Night of Joy.

1. Value/Moderate/Deluxe

These terms describe the various resorts and are meant to convey to guests the type of resort accommodations that they expect if they choose to stay at a certain resort.  Values provide the most economical experience, while Deluxe resorts have abundant theming and amenities.

A visit to Disney World is like visiting a new country, so it is only fitting that guests need to learn a new language to be able to survive when there!  These are the terms that guests will need to know before they go!
