Walk past the Walt Disney World Swan Resort on any given evening this summer, and you would never guess what is happening inside one of its restaurants. No theme park ticket required. Along with no Park Hopper. And even better, no early morning rope drop strategy. Just a table, a six-course menu, and a journey across Italy that rivals anything World Showcase has ever produced.
Il Mulino New York Trattoria has launched an exclusive Tour of Italy wine dinner series, and it is one of the most genuinely impressive things happening near Walt Disney World right now.
What the Series Actually Is
The dinners run one evening per month from June through September, with each event built around an intimate six-course tasting menu paired with wines from two distinct Italian regions. The structure ensures that every dinner feels completely different from the one before it, spotlighting the specific flavors, traditions, and culinary identity tied to each featured destination.
The series opened June 25 with a spotlight on Veneto and Tuscany, beginning at 6:00 p.m. July 16 shifts the focus to Umbria and Abruzzo, with the exact start time still to be confirmed. August 20 brings the spotlight to Campania and Calabria, and the series wraps September 24 with a celebration of Sicily and Sardegna, both also still pending a confirmed time.
The price is $175 per person, covering all six courses and the wine pairings selected to accompany each one. Seating is limited at every event, and given the popularity of Il Mulino's previous special dining experiences, these dates are expected to disappear from the reservation calendar quickly. Bookings are currently available through OpenTable.
The Restaurant Behind It
Il Mulino New York Trattoria has earned a strong reputation at the Walt Disney World Swan Resort for serving authentic Italian cuisine in a setting that manages to feel upscale without losing the warmth of a genuine trattoria. The Tour of Italy series leans into that strength directly, giving guests structured access to regional Italian cooking and wine pairing that is genuinely difficult to find packaged together this thoughtfully anywhere else in Central Florida.
A Summer Built Around More Than Just Dinner
The Tour of Italy series is one piece of a much larger summer at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, which has built its entire season around America's 250th anniversary.
The celebration starts with a Fourth of July weekend running July 3 through July 5, featuring a live DJ poolside, inflatable games, themed crafts, a specialty Red White and Poured cocktail, and complimentary birthday cake. Guests can easily continue the celebration at EPCOT using the resort's complimentary boat transportation or its direct walking path, where Soarin' Across America has recently debuted as part of the America 250 programming, featuring American landmarks and natural wonders paired with a refreshed version of the Soarin' soundtrack. Resort guests also receive Early Theme Park Entry, getting access to select attractions ahead of the general public.
Starting in July and continuing through the end of August, the resort debuts a brand new Summer Concert Series, bringing live entertainment, themed food trucks, and specialty cocktails to create an energetic atmosphere for both resort guests and visitors who purchase a resort pass. The resort is also offering seasonal savings through its Summer Story Worth Telling promotion, with discounts starting at 25 percent off for Disney Annual Passholders, Florida residents, teachers, and other eligible guests.
Why This Matters for Disney
For guests who assume the best Walt Disney World experiences require a theme park ticket, the Tour of Italy series is proof to the contrary. A restaurant steps away from EPCOT's front gates is delivering a culinary journey across an entire country, one region at a time, with the kind of intimacy and intention that World Showcase, for all its charm, cannot replicate inside a theme park setting.
Most guests walking past the Swan Resort have no idea this is happening. The ones who book a seat before the dates sell out are going to have a very different summer story to tell.
