The Descendants saga has captivated audiences with its fresh take on Disney’s classic villains. Starting in 2015, the series followed the lives of Mal (daughter of Maleficent), Evie (daughter of the Evil Queen), Jay (son of Jafar), and Carlos (son of Cruella de Vil), all of whom grew up on the Isle of the Lost, an island where defeated villains are sent.
However, when these teens are given the chance to leave the island and attend school in the kingdom of Auradon, they are faced with a choice: embrace goodness or continue their villainous legacies.

The first three Descendants films were full of catchy songs, spectacular dance numbers, and high-energy moments that made them a hit with viewers of all ages. After the tragic passing of Cameron Boyce in 2019, who played Carlos, many fans feared that would mark the end of the Descendants series.
However, Disney continued the legacy with an animated short and more recent films that explore the characters’ adventures beyond Auradon.
The Descendants franchise is back, and Disney has announced another exciting chapter for fans of the villainous offspring!

Returning Favorites and Old Friends
While new characters are the highlight, Descendants 5 will also bring back familiar faces that fans have come to know and love. Kylie Cantrall will return as Red, the fierce and adventurous daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Malia Baker will reprise her role as Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella.
Their bond will be key to the storyline as they navigate the challenges of growing up and discovering their own identities outside of their famous parents’ legacies.
Fans who have followed the series from the beginning will appreciate these familiar faces as the story progresses. The continuity between films helps to tie together the ever-expanding world of Descendants, even as new characters and plotlines are introduced.
What We Know So Far
As for the plot, Disney is keeping much of it under wraps, but we do know that Descendants 5 will see Red and Chloe dealing with the aftermath of their time-traveling escapades.
Now that they’ve returned to present-day Wonderland, the story will explore what “happily ever after” really looks like for these two characters after their adventures. Will they finally be able to settle into their new lives, or will the chaos of Wonderland throw even more challenges their way?
Another exciting twist comes with the casting of Joel Oulette, who will play Robbie, the son of Robin Hood. Unlike his heroic father, Robbie seems more interested in embracing villainy than in following in Robin Hood’s footsteps.
How his character will intersect with the ongoing story remains to be seen, but it’s sure to add a fresh layer of intrigue.
