After Reports Went Viral, Disney World Location Closure Confirmed

A familiar storefront at Disney Springs has gone dark. Sprinkles Cupcakes, which served guests for nearly a decade, officially closed its location on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026. The closure marks the end of one of the district’s longest-running dessert offerings.

The Disney Springs bakery debuted in May 2016 and became known for its rotating cupcake flavors, baked goods, and ice cream. One of its defining features was the cupcake ATM, which allowed guests to purchase treats beyond standard hours. Over the years, it became part of many visitors’ routines while spending time in the shopping and dining district.

In the days before the closure, there were few signs that operations were about to stop. The store remained open, posted hours extended into early 2026, and guests continued placing orders. From the outside, the location appeared unchanged, even as speculation began spreading online.

Late in December, social media posts suggested Sprinkles was preparing to shut down all of its locations worldwide. While the Disney Springs storefront continued operating, alleged employees began sharing their experiences online. Several claimed that staff were given minimal notice, reportedly as little as one day, before the bakery closed. The timing, immediately following the holiday season, led to strong reactions from both former employees and customers.

No official announcement was released by either Disney or Sprinkles. Even as questions grew, the store’s hours remained visible online until the end of the year, leading some fans to believe the reports might be inaccurate.

Confirmation arrived on January 1, when Disney Food Blog visited the site and found a closure notice posted at the location. The Disney World website now lists the storefront as having no available times. Sprinkles’ own website shows no active bakery locations, with ordering pages removed or returning error messages.

Forbes also noted changes that signaled the closure. Operating hours disappeared after December 31, and the online ordering system no longer allowed bookings beyond that date, a shift often interpreted as a sign of a permanent shutdown.

Another unexpected development followed: Sprinkles’ official Instagram account was deleted. Previously used to promote flavors, events, and announcements, the account’s removal eliminated one of the brand’s primary communication channels. No farewell message or explanation was posted prior to its disappearance.

Disney Springs has seen many changes over the years as new locations replace departing ones. While change is common, the way Sprinkles exited the district has drawn attention due to its length of operation and the lack of public communication.

As guests walk past the former bakery space, its future remains unknown. For now, Sprinkles joins a growing list of former Disney Springs locations remembered by those who once stopped in for a cupcake during their visit.
