When planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort, there is a lot to consider. One of the biggest decisions Guests can make is deciding on where they want to stay. There are more than 25 hotels on Disney World property, ranging from Value to Moderate, all the way up to Deluxe. Disney has something for every budget, and for those looking to splurge, it doesn’t get nicer than a Deluxe Disney Resort. Guests who stay at Deluxe Disney Resorts are treated to gorgeous accommodations and extra hours in select Parks on select nights.

There are eight Deluxe Resorts at Disney World — Polynesian Village, Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, Yacht Club, and BoardWalk Inn. Each hotel has its own special theme and vibe, but one of the most unique Deluxe Resorts is Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, located right next to Animal Kingdom Park.

Guests who stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge can choose between the main hotel area — Jambo House — or the more private Kidani Village. Both Jambo House and Kidani Village take Guests right into the heart of Africa, with stunning artwork, design, and entertainment. There are also amazing dining options, including Boma: Flavors of Africa and Jiko: The Cooking Place.

But the best part of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge is the four savannas, where Guests can watch giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and more graze throughout the day. There are even rooms that can be booked with Savanna views!

Disney strives to keep all Guests safe and happy during their stay, but Guests staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge recently had one heck of a rude awakening.

In the early morning hours of July 25, YouTuber Roadtrip Dave began live-streaming from the parking lot of Animal Kingdom Lodge. According to Dave, at around 1 a.m., the fire alarms in Jambo House started going off. Dave looked outside his room and saw that Guests were evacuating. His family began to leave the hotel and heard an announcement that Guests needed to evacuate due to a fire.

Dave — who was staying on the fifth floor of Jambo House — said that he and his family could smell something electrical as they headed down the fourth floor.

Thankfully, it appears that no one was hurt in the fire and the Disney’s fire crews were able to take care of the problem. We have not heard any reports from Disney indicating that any part of Animal Kingdom Lodge is shut down or off-limits to Guests.

If you ever hear a fire alarm go off while at Disney, remain calm and follow instructions. Disney Cast Members will work diligently to get Guests to safety as quickly and efficiently as possible.
