If you’ve been following the recent changes at Magic Kingdom, it probably won’t surprise you that another part of the park just got taken out. What might surprise you, though, is that it wasn’t Frontierland this time.

Over in Tomorrowland, Disney quietly took a bulldozer to a quirky little corner that’s been cooling off guests for decades.
Tomorrowland’s Chill Zone Vanishes
Cool Ship—yeah, the one with the mist and the weird red spaceship on top—is no more. What started as a routine closure for “refurbishment” in May has turned into a full-on demolition project. Construction walls now hide the spot where the kiosk once stood, and what’s behind them? Dirt. Trenches. And absolutely zero signs that Cool Ship is ever coming back.
This wasn’t just a repaint. The area has been torn to pieces.
Not Just a Snack Stop
Let’s be real—Cool Ship wasn’t a headline attraction. But it mattered. You could grab a Mickey bar, cool off under a burst of mist, and admire that funky spaceship that felt straight out of retro-future sci-fi. Even guests who never bought anything there appreciated the vibe it brought to Tomorrowland.

Some fans believed the ship might’ve been a recycled prop from an old attraction. That was never confirmed, but it added to the spot’s charm.
The Bigger Tomorrowland Picture
The Cool Ship demolition fits a broader pattern. Tomorrowland is in the middle of a massive shift. TRON Lightcycle / Run is already the land’s big new headliner. Astro Orbiter just finished being refurbished. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a total refresh. Piece by piece, Disney is cleaning up the land’s mismatched look and pushing toward a sleeker, unified design.

And that likely means quirky, old-school touches like Cool Ship just don’t fit the vision anymore.
What Fans Are Saying
Not everyone’s happy. Between Liberty Belle sailing off into the sunset, and now this, it’s been a tough stretch for fans of the “little things” at Disney. Social media is full of people mourning what feels like another piece of park personality being scrubbed away.
That said, others are calling it necessary. Tomorrowland has looked like a hodgepodge for years. If this is part of building a better, more cohesive future, they say it might be worth the pain.
Either way, Disney’s not looking back. The bulldozers have spoken—and they’re not finished yet.
