When Walt Disney World Resort is mentioned, many average Disney World fans will think of their favorite rides and the destinations or attractions that make the Disney Parks in this Disney Resort so iconic.

When the Disney Park called the Animal Kingdom is specifically mentioned, icons like the Tree of Life and the Asia roller coaster called Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain (not to mention the distinctly wet ride called Kali River Rapids) are probably the points of interest that come to mind.

However, there is one staple on many hardcore Disney fans’ or nature enthusiasts’ must-do Disney vacation to-do lists — and that staple is back in action after a few months of closure!

Yes, Disney Guests often head to the Disney Resort theme parks for thrills and laughs (not to mention the Disney magic), but for a lot of Disney fans and adventure-seekers, just as many thrills can be gained by observing wildlife — and in the Asia portion of the Animal Kingdom in Florida, there is a rare chance to see some exquisite wildlife that you can only normally see in Asia itself!

The Maharajah Jungle Trek is a peaceful-yet-enthralling offering in Asia that allows Disney Guests to see everything from Asian tigers to water buffalo. There are also at least 50 incredible bird species, at least one feisty komodo dragon, the Malayan flying fox, and Elds deer — not to mention the exquisite “ancient ruins” that permeate the beautifully-forested walk!

The aviary in the Maharajah Jungle Trek has been closed since January, but we finally have confirmation that it is back in action, and the stunning birds are back on display!

Do you make the Maharajah Jungle Trek a priority on your Walt Disney World vacations? Did you know that there are also plenty of chances to see some underappreciated Floridian birds during your Disney Resort trips, too?
