Do you love bread? Do warm, soft, pillow-y, baked loaves straight from the oven set your heart aflutter? Perhaps you prefer crusty, chewy bread slathered with soft, salted butter or maybe even sweetened bread like honeyed cornbread or raisin bread? If you are anything like me, you’ll be happy to know that the Disney World restaurants have some of the best bread service you’ll find, delicious in all their uniquely varying forms. Served right before your meal, these breads will tempt you to fill up before you even have an opportunity to glance at your main entrée. Without further ado, let’s take a look at 10 of our favorite Disney World table-service breads which are mouth-wateringly addicting and ready to win your heart with their warm, carb-y comforts.

10. Chocolate Mango Bread/Mealie Cornbread/Orange Bread/Banana Bread — Tusker House, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Have you ever been to Tusker House inside Animal Kingdom? This buffet features a wide buffet brimming with African flavors. There is plenty to satisfy every appetite here, from the adventurous foodie to the less-fearless picky eater. The assorted breads offered in the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet vary, but are all insanely moist, flavorful and memorable. Where else are you going to find a chocolate-mango bread to accompany your curry chicken? This yeast-based bread combines flavors that you typically don’t see in American fare, but mingle exceptionally well together. Mealie cornbread is another must-try, differing from your basic cornbread by relying on actual corn rather than cornmeal to flavor the bread. The orange bread and banana bread from the breakfast buffet are both home runs, sweet and moist and packed full of delicious flavor. No matter what time of day you find yourself in the buffet line at Tusker House, you will love the all-you-can-eat assorted bread collection to go alongside your tasty meal.

9. Fresh Baguette — Les Chefs de France, Epcot’s France Pavilion

I’d be remiss if I didn’t include a baguette on this list, especially since Les Chefs de France offers each table a complimentary, fresh, wonderfully authentic French baguette pre-meal. In truth, this is a demi-baguette, but just like other complimentary bread services, you can always ask for more as you gobble them up. This fresh bread is delightfully tasty, perfectly crunchy on the crust and chewy-soft on the inside. Basic butter accompanies the demi-baguette. If you still have a hankering after you leave the restaurant, you can even grab a fresh one at the quick-service Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie next door (you know, for those late-night hotel room baguette cravings).

8. White Rolls with Roasted Garlic and Olive Oil — Portobello, Downtown Disney

Warm, crusty rolls baked fresh, served in a basket alongside a sliced knob of roasted garlic and olive oil—this is how your meal begins at the tucked away Portobello restaurant in Downtown Disney. This simple, yet outstanding bread service always gets high-praise from the patrons who marvel at the butter-like spread-ability of the softened, roasted garlic. Topping it off with a drizzle of olive oil seals the deal as one of our favorite breads on property. Each garlicky bite of soft, warm bread with the crusty crunch is truly exceptional, trust us on this!

7. Irish Soda Bread—Raglan Road, Downtown Disney

Raglan Road has been a favorite of mine since its first opening and they really can’t do wrong in my book. From the entertainment to the service to the food, I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone who is visiting Walt Disney World. If you want a memorable meal, THIS is the place to go, and it all starts with their bread service. Here, you’ll receive a warm loaf of pre-cut authentic Irish soda bread. Though the bread alone is tasty enough by itself, the Guinness Reduction sauce that comes with it is the most wonderful part of it all. It is made by simmering Guinness beer with sugar until it produces a syrup-like consistency. Combined in a small saucer with olive oil, it makes the perfect, most delicious dipping sauce for your brown bread. I’d probably drink it with a straw if I didn’t think I’d get crazy-eyes from my husband.

6. Pretzel Bread — Biergarten, Epcot’s Germany Pavilion

It’s kind of a no-brainer, right? One should always eat pretzel bread while in Germany. And if you can’t get to Germany, just head on over to Epcot’s Germany Pavilion, the next best thing! At this all-you-can-eat German buffet, you will have plenty—and I mean PLENTY—to fill your bellies, everything from meatballs to potato salad to Spaetzle. Do yourself a favor though, save room for the soft pretzel bread. Available in the buffet, you can go crazy piling them high on your plate, because each salty, crunchy-yet-soft bite will have you pining for more! These are as authentic as they come, practically alone worthy of a trip to this fun, lively restaurant. Another stellar Epcot restaurant that offers pretzel bread pre-meal is Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canada Pavilion.

5. Pineapple-Coconut Bread — Olivia’s Café, Disney’s Old Key West Resort

Served on a large cutting board, the bread at Olivia’s Café is worth writing home about. It’s refreshing, sweet, and island-y (if that’s even a word). I have a love-affair with coconut, and the small hints of the flavor in this bread really have me clamoring for more, especially since it’s paired with its BFF (i.e. pineapple). Y’all know how much you love Pina Coladas; just now image it in bread-form. Yes, it’s THAT good. Spread some of the softened butter on top and you’ll be floating away to paradise (which is, I’m sure, exactly how they want you to feel with each bite!). It’s worth a mention that the Polynesian Resort’s ‘Ohana also offers pineapple bread with the meal. Though not the exact recipe, the taste is quite similar and equally satisfying!

4. Pull-Apart Onion Rolls — Yachtsman Steakhouse, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Yachtsman Steakhouse is one of those must-try Disney World restaurants, one that consistently receives rave reviews and offers truly succulent dishes. The bread service here stands alone in flavor, and has been praised often for being one of the best breads on Disney property. Before your meal you’ll receive a complimentary bread basket filled with sourdough rolls and pull-apart onion rolls. The sourdough is tasty, but the onion rolls are out-of-this-world amazing, especially when you top them with the roasted garlic and salted butter offerings! Sure, you’ll need a post-meal breath mint (or five) but it is so worth it!

3. Indian-Style Bread Service—Sanaa, Disney’s Kidani Village (Animal Kingdom Lodge)

Of all the bread offerings on this list, this is the only one not offered complimentary with your meal. Despite this, I can’t stress this enough: You MUST try the bread-service! Here is the low-down—You’ll have the option of choosing three of five breads (Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kucha, or Paneer Paratha) which then come with a choice of three accompaniments out of ten options (Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Tomato-Date Jam, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, or Tamarind Chutney). I’ve never once ordered a bread or accompaniment that I haven’t LOVED and though I haven’t tried them all, I’ve tasted most. Talk to your server ahead of time if you are uncertain of which direction to go with this, they will happily recommend the best choices for your particular palette. Some are spicier than others, so when in doubt, just ask! Insider Tip: You can take a FREE pre-dinner hour cultural tour of Sanaa, which ends with a complimentary sampling of this bread-service. Check with the front desk for hours.

2. Cornbread — Whispering Canyon, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort; Boatwright’s Dining Hall, Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort; Hoop De Doo Musical Revue, Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds

I could write a novel of my love for cornbread, namely the sweet kind that basically tastes like cake. Slather a hunk of cornbread with sweetened butter and I’m in high-carb heaven (and perfectly happy, thankyouverymuch). Disney World has some seriously tasty cornbread, crumbly and moist and sweet, and I’d be hard-pressed to choose between the three locations that offer it pre-meal. I was just at Whispering Canyon, so the cornbread they offer is still fresh on my mind. They serve a basket of small, individual loaves for everyone at your table, with an ample supply of sweetened, softened butter. I couldn’t get enough, barely giving myself sufficient stomach space for my main course. The cornbread at Boatwright’s Dining Hall is just as deliciously sweet and moist, thick and warm and straight-from-the-oven. Here, they are cut into large, square hunks and served with whipped butter. The slightly toasted and crunchy outside gives way to the slightly sweet, soft inside. I could dine on this alone and be content for dinner. The Hoop De Doo Revue Dinner Show also offers an all-you-care-to-eat pre-dinner cornbread which is so popular that the recipe is floating around all over the internet. Cornbread from a box mix at home doesn’t even come close to being in the same hemisphere as this stuff.

1. Sweet Bread with Macadamia Nut Butter — Kona Café, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

In a way it really is kind of cruel to offer something this delicious right before your meal, especially when there is no limit to the amount of complimentary servings you can request. I mean, how can they expect you to have any room at all to enjoy the rest of the meal? *Sigh* I digress. And I certainly can’t complain, because I wouldn’t have it any other way. The pre-meal bread at Kona Café is outstanding, cementing a number one spot on our list because it is the stuff dreams are made of. You’ll receive a round, warm, pillow-y soft serving of sweet bread and a side of whipped macadamia nut butter. So sweet and comforting, it almost tastes like you are indulging in a dessert. Go ahead and help yourself to as many as your stomach will allow because this bread with a healthy slather of nut butter is one-of-a-kind.
