Cast Member Evacuated From Magic Kingdom Parade at Disney World

Change is on the horizon at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, with the most significant transformation in the park’s history just weeks away. Beginning July 7, Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America will close permanently, as Disney makes way for a Cars-themed expansion of Frontierland.

Set to be called Piston Peak National Park, the reimagined land will bring Pixar’s Cars franchise to life in a brand-new way. Though an official debut date hasn’t been announced, Disney has shared refreshed concept art and confirmed the use of a design strategy known as “Parkitecture” to help maintain the rustic charm of Frontierland while introducing this new storytelling experience.

Even as the future of the park shifts, classic entertainment continues to bring joy to guests. Magic Kingdom remains lively with staples like the fireworks spectacular Happily Ever After and the vibrant Festival of Fantasy parade—which became the center of attention earlier this week for an entirely different reason.

In an unexpected twist, the Festival of Fantasy parade took place during a heavy Florida rainstorm. While it’s not uncommon for performances to adapt to Central Florida’s ever-changing weather, guests were surprised to see the parade continue in such strong conditions.

Typically, when rain threatens show quality or safety, Disney swaps in the Rainy Day Cavalcade, a shorter and more weather-friendly parade option. But on this particular day, performers including Belle, Beast, Ariel, Anna and Elsa, and even Tinker Bell pressed on through the rain, smiling and waving to guests gathered along the route.

Videos shared on social media—including one from TikTok user @tiffanybab—captured the moment. “This came out of NOWHERE!!! shoutout to the performers and cast members,” they wrote, highlighting the cast’s commitment in the challenging weather. Footage shows characters visibly wet, some seeking cover mid-performance, but never breaking character.

However, one moment during the parade drew special attention. In the clip, Snow White can be seen gently guiding Bashful toward the edge of the performance area. Holding his arms across his chest, the character is then assisted off the route by a nearby cast member. The exact reason for Bashful’s departure is unknown, though it’s likely related to slippery ground or obstructed vision due to the weather.

Even though the skies were gray, the commitment to magic shone through. These rare weather-related incidents show just how dedicated Disney’s cast members are to maintaining show quality, even when nature doesn’t cooperate.

Magic Kingdom, which remains the most-visited theme park in the world, is known for its immersive lands and beloved attractions. And even as it prepares for a historic transformation, daily moments—like a parade through the rain—continue to define the Disney experience.

Guests can still catch the Festival of Fantasy parade on most afternoons at 3 p.m., featuring elaborate floats and characters from fan-favorite films like Peter Pan, Tangled, and the Disney Princess lineup.

With such exciting changes on the horizon and magical moments happening each day, there’s never been a more dynamic time to visit Magic Kingdom Park. Just remember: in Florida, a little rain may fall—but the show almost always goes on.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
