Safety is the top priority for both Guests and Cast Members at Disney Parks, and while numerous precautions are in place to keep everyone safe while experiencing attractions, there are times when extra steps need to be taken to ensure everyone’s safety.

Theme park attractions stopping momentarily can be perfectly normal unless a Guest exits during that time and an evacuation is needed. Disney attractions come with emergency sensors that stop the rides if a Guest were to exit their vehicle. Of course, there are restraints like lap bars, seatbelts, and over-the-shoulder restraints intended to keep Guests seated, and while these restraints do ensure that Guests will remain safe for the duration of the attraction, they are sometimes possible to slip out of if the Guests is determined.

A recent TikTok by @magicallytanna shows a recent incident on Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park where a child hopped out of his ride vehicle and refused to return. His exit came when the ride stopped briefly leaving Guests stuck waiting for Cast Members to address the situation, which ultimately means being evacuated from the attraction. Guests riding any attraction at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort receive reminders to “keep their hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the vehicle at all times” and to supervise their children, however, sometimes slip-ups do happen and Guests do make it out of the vehicle.

Disney has these rules in place solely for the safety of Guests for all of the obvious reasons that hopping out of a moving vehicle would be unsafe, along with the fact that some attractions have very dangerous areas around the vehicles with electric setups, slick floors, and more all required to make the ride function properly (and certainly not meant for Guest access.)

Incidents of Guests getting out of ride vehicles seems to be more common in recent years, however, it could be due to the presence of social media being able to capture more incidents than we would have been aware of before. In any case, it is important to follow all Cast Member instructions and ride safety guidelines while visiting Disney parks, both for your safety and that of other Guests and Cast Members (and so everyone can enjoy the ride!)
