Disney Cast Members Are Invited to Open Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

The newest roller coaster attraction to arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort will come with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, coming to EPCOT this summer.

The highly anticipated attraction takes over the space formerly occupied by the Universe of Energy in the newly renamed Wonders of Xandar Pavilion. The all-new thrill ride will be located not in Future World, but in World Discovery, one of the new neighborhoods comprising the areas outside of World Showcase along with World Celebration and World Nature.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world when it opens this summer, and it marks the first attraction inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the Walt Disney World Resort.

For Disney Cast Members, the opening of a new attraction comes with the exciting opportunity to apply for a transfer to work at the upcoming location. Even more thrilling for many Cast Members, is the potential of getting to be fully immersed in bringing a brand new experience to life for Guests by being a part of an opening team.

Disney has just begun recruiting Cast Members to transfer over to a role in Attractions in the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, as well as in the Connections Cafe & Eatery, a new restaurant coming to EPCOT around the same time as the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.

Disney has not yet announced a specific opening date for the newest EPCOT attraction other than “summer 2022” so we will be anxiously waiting to find out more. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was initially planned to open by the beginning of last year but construction was essentially paused during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

President of the Walt Disney World Resort Jeff Vahle recently had the opportunity to go for a test ride on the attraction with colleagues. He took to his Instagram account to share his reaction to one of Walt Disney World’s newest thrill rides writing:

“After getting an update on the latest progress and an early test ride on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, I have three words: it is AWESOME!!! Thank you to the teams at Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World who are bringing this amazing attraction to life. I’m looking forward to seeing the finishing touches over the next several months and can’t wait for you to get a look when it opens at EPCOT next summer as part of the park’s transformation!”

Vahle’s comments and photos from his previews of the attraction certainly have us anxious for a chance to ride, and surely the hype is having a similar effect on Cast Members looking for that dream transfer opportunity.
