During this weekend’s Destination D23 event, we were able to hear about some more details on the major transformation currently taking place at EPCOT. We learned new information on the opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction, and took a behind the scenes look at Harmonious, plus we heard about the full lineup of performers coming to the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series as part of the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
One of the smaller pieces of news that hasn’t quite been receiving the same buzz around the Disney fan community is that we finally learned a little bit more about one of the new quick service restaurants coming to the park later on in EPCOT’s transformation.
The new restaurant, which we can now share will be called “Connections Cafe and Eatery,” will take over the space formerly occupied by Electric Umbrella in what is now World Celebration (formerly Future World.)
Along with the name of the new quick service restaurant, Chairman of Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro shared with Guests at Destination D23 and everyone streaming the event live from home some new concept art of the restaurant.
The concept art is a real departure from the style of Electric Umbrella and the rest of the old designs of EPCOT’s Future World, and it looks like it will be right at home given the new areas we have already seen open at EPCOT including the Creations Shop.
We do not yet know what the menu at Connections Cafe and Eatery will be like, however we would hazard a guess that it will at least be similar items to Electric Umbrella (more standard selections of burgers, sandwiches, salads) because surprisingly these are actually items that are missing from EPCOT at the moment.
We will keep you updated here on Disney Fanatic as we learn more about Connections Cafe & Eatery and the rest of EPCOT’s transformation.
