See the New “Mouse as Muse” Art Collection at EPCOT’s Creations Shop

The new Creations Shop recently opened as EPCOT’s flagship merchandise location and we cannot get enough of the shop’s theming and tributes to all things Mickey and EPCOT. Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley recently took to Instagram to share a look at some of the pieces in the “Mouse as Muse” art collection that is currently on display in the shop, and they are worth a stop on their own.

Disney artists featured in the collection were each able to put their own spin on works inspired by Mickey Mouse himself, and the pieces, along with the new Mickey mural artwork, are now on display to see for Guests visiting the Creations Shop.

One of the pieces in the collection is this beaded Mickey, made with thousands of individual beads and pieces of sequins. All of the materials and fabric were applied by hand individually by the artist with an extremely careful attention to detail to make sure everything lines up just right. Riddley shared that the artist behind this piece was inspired by Mickey as a symbol of laughter, happiness, love and family, and he wanted that shimmery appearance to come through in the final look.

The artist who created this silver Mickey shared that she wanted to celebrate her own personal identity and the joy she finds in creating art and metalworking, while wrapping it all up in her career as a Walt Disney World scenic painter. This piece (my personal favorite in the collection) creates a stunning illusion of cast metal with skillful brushed metallics, and I can’t wait to see it in person.

This black and gold Mickey was created by an artist who wanted to capture the happiness she feels when she enters a Disney park, you know, the kind where your everyday worries just seem to face away and are replaced by an overwhelming feeling of happiness. I’d say she was successful!
