A New Year means new goals, and one Disney Cast Member is using the occasion for a refresh into goals supporting her physical and mental wellbeing, and she is inspiring others along the way!
Coordinator of Training at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Erin Schuelke made quite the New Year’s resolution, and she entering the New Year with the goal of running 22 5K races in 2022. Disney Be Well, programming exclusively for Disney Cast Members that helps them with healthy eating habits, mental wellbeing, and other wellness goals, has helped her through her fitness journey thus far, and as a result Schuelke has already been meeting her daily step goals ahead of her upcoming 5Ks.
Scheulke began working towards a healthy lifestyle using tips and programs from Disney Be Well in 2018, where used company perks to find easy ways to stay motivated to meeting her goals. While at an event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney Be Well provided her and other Walt Disney World Cast Members with helpful resources and tools to live a healthy, balanced, and rewarding lifestyle.
Some of her goals early on focused on hitting set numbers of steps in a day. As she surpassed her first goal of 10,000 steps, the upped the limit to 15,000 then 20,000. As a result her and her team of Cast Members succeeded at Disney Be Well programming and won a challenge as a team against other groups within the company.

Disney Cast Members are pros at creating all kinds of happiness, and Scheulke spoke to the Disney Parks Blog to share her most valuable tip: “You’re doing this for yourself and no one else. Committing to your health and well-being is a major accomplishment on its own.”
