According to later reports from Florida State Troopers, “the bicyclist was riding on the exit ramp when the man was hit by a couple from North Carolina who were driving a Toyota Tundra. The bicyclist was airlifted to Osceola Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

The couple was not harmed but remained at the scene as the accident was under investigation.

Little else is still known about this collision, especially as to why a bicyclist was on a major highway. It should be noted that there are no bicycle lanes posted on Osceola Parkway or any of the other main roadways on Walt Disney World Property. And drivers who are often tourists with little clue of where they are going are not accustomed to watching for them.

It should also be noted that these accidents are incredibly rare and Disney World coordinates with Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol to ensure the safest possible road conditions as its Guests, Minnie Vans, and Bus Transportation move between the different Theme Parks and Resort Hotels.

We at Disney Fanatic send our deepest condolences to the families of the slain bicyclist and all those involved in a truly magic-shattering situation. We advise would be Disney drivers to be on alert at all times, never drink and drive, give way to Disney World Bus Transportation, and obey speed limits and other posted signs.
