If you love all things Disney, then this Aladdin-inspired drink is perfect to serve during your next movie night! After all, a Disney-inspired cocktail makes everything more magical.
This Disney-inspired cocktail is something I like to call “Aladdin’s Magic Carpet,” and it is sure to deliver the high-flying fun and glamor that Carpet is known for.
This is essentially a modified “Kir Royale,” a champagne cocktail that I discovered for myself actually in the France Pavilion at EPCOT and fell in love with it.
A Kir Royale is simply champagne (but you can use prosecco or any sparkling white wine) and a black currant liqueur called creme de cassis. But we’re going to add an extra dose of flavor and magic to this classic: Goldschlager. This is a cinnamon schnapps with edible gold flakes inside.
The recipe is actually really simple: pour equal parts of creme de cassis and Goldschlager into a champagne flute or pitcher, and add the sparkling wine of your choice for taste.
For this single serving, I chose to only use a half-ounce of the liqueur and schnapps, but it is all about the proportions. So feel free to add more or less and modify it to your liking.
Your result should be a beautiful, fizzy “Aladdin purple” drink that is sweet and spicy, with plenty of gold flakes inside, signifying the treasures found with Carpet in the Cave of Wonders. (And yes, I know I used prosecco instead of champagne for this experiment.)
This refreshing combination of gold, spice, purple, and bubbles is enough to make any street rat feel like a sultan. And all of these ingredients are relatively easy to find at your local liquor store.
But please remember, Disney Fanatics, please drink responsibly and NEVER drink and drive.
Disney’s Aladdin–both the original animated feature (1992) and the live-action remake (2019) — is available for streaming now on Disney+.
