Disney’s been making many bold moves lately—not all are popular. The vibe across Walt Disney World has shifted from new IP takeovers to the quiet disappearance of fan-favorite rides. Hollywood Studios, in particular, has seen a wave of change, and now it looks like another major ride is about to take its final bow.
Sadly, Disney has confirmed that this classic attraction will be permanently closing its doors in the near future.

Goodbye to a Classic
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has been a fan-favorite thrill ride since 1999, launching guests into a neon-lit race through Los Angeles with Aerosmith blasting in their ears. It’s fast, it’s loud, and for many, it’s been one of the most adrenaline-pumping experiences at Disney World.
In an unexpected twist, the rumored replacement for this iconic coaster is… the Muppets. Yep. With Muppet Vision 3D permanently closed as of 2025, Disney is reportedly looking for a new home for Kermit and crew—and they may have found it.
And don’t worry about the old Muppet Vision spot. Disney’s already turning that into a Monsters Inc. mini-land with a family-friendly suspended coaster on the way.

More Closures Could Follow
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster may not be the only ride nearing the end. Hollywood Studios has been reshaping itself over the last ten years, and that momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Attractions like Star Tours and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular have been the subject of retirement rumors. Some fans are even nervously watching Tower of Terror, though nothing has yet been confirmed.

What’s Next for the Park?
Change is part of the Disney experience, but losing a classic is never easy. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has been a high-speed highlight of Hollywood Studios for 26 years. Whether you’re excited to see the Muppets crash the party or heartbroken over Aerosmith’s exit, the only thing sure right now is that more change is coming.
