Confirmed: Another Classic Ride Is Leaving Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s been making many bold moves lately—not all are popular. The vibe across Walt Disney World has shifted from new IP takeovers to the quiet disappearance of fan-favorite rides. Hollywood Studios, in particular, has seen a wave of change, and now it looks like another major ride is about to take its final bow.

Sadly, Disney has confirmed that this classic attraction will be permanently closing its doors in the near future.

Goodbye to a Classic

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has been a fan-favorite thrill ride since 1999, launching guests into a neon-lit race through Los Angeles with Aerosmith blasting in their ears. It’s fast, it’s loud, and for many, it’s been one of the most adrenaline-pumping experiences at Disney World.

But now it’s official—Disney confirmed it will shut down the ride sometime in 2026 to retheme it entirely. After over two decades of loops and backstage passes, the company plans to retire the coaster’s rock star identity. Even though it still draws big crowds, the ride struggles with frequent downtime and no longer fits the park’s push toward immersive, story-driven experiences.

A Retheme to What??

In an unexpected twist, the rumored replacement for this iconic coaster is… the Muppets. Yep. With Muppet Vision 3D permanently closed as of 2025, Disney is reportedly looking for a new home for Kermit and crew—and they may have found it.

Rumors suggest the Muppets will bring their wild, music-packed energy to the current coaster track. Instead of Aerosmith, guests could race through backstage chaos with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. The updated ride would include a brand-new pre-show and a fresh soundtrack. Disney hasn’t confirmed the details yet, but the retheme looks like a way to update a fan-favorite without losing its high-speed appeal.

And don’t worry about the old Muppet Vision spot. Disney’s already turning that into a Monsters Inc. mini-land with a family-friendly suspended coaster on the way.

More Closures Could Follow

Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster may not be the only ride nearing the end. Hollywood Studios has been reshaping itself over the last ten years, and that momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Attractions like Star Tours and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular have been the subject of retirement rumors. Some fans are even nervously watching Tower of Terror, though nothing has yet been confirmed.

What’s Next for the Park?

Change is part of the Disney experience, but losing a classic is never easy. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has been a high-speed highlight of Hollywood Studios for 26 years. Whether you’re excited to see the Muppets crash the party or heartbroken over Aerosmith’s exit, the only thing sure right now is that more change is coming.
